CU Cup? More like PU Cup, this format stinks!

CU Cup is a meta where you can only use common and uncommon cards (so no rares or higher), and is currently running as a Trainer Trial on TCG Live. Trainer Trials is a cool idea, but they basically just throw everyone in at the deep end and expect people to have an understanding of the meta in the like. week each format runs for, which means very few people are actually ever on the ladder. Thankfully I have no life and can dedicate time to creating at least somewhat meta relevant decks for these micro-formats to share with the world.

The most dominant decks in the format seem to be low HP high damage attackers like Castform Sunny Form (Chilling Reign) and Dipplin (Twilight Masquerade) (the latter of which I've also made a deck for, check it here: https://pokemoncard.io/deck/bad-apple-cu-cup-dipplin-127173), which do not appreciate Qwilfish exploding in their faces and KOing them to give you a favourable prize trade. Unlike something like Maractus (Journey Together) Qwilfish also has an actual offensive presence, which can be bolstered with Single Strike Energy as well as Seviper and Perilous Jungle boosting its poison damage (cards like Brute Bonnet and Toxicroak (Sword & Shield) are unfortunately rare, and therefore banned).

Admittedly the deck feels a little wonky, but that's to be expected in a format where half of all useful cards are banned. Did you know Guzma and Iono are uncommon but Boss's Orders and Marnie are rare? I've literally never paid attention to these things but that's really weird.

As always, any input is appreciated :)
