Brambleghast Energy Control

I’ve been trying to build a meme deck around Brambleghast since it came out for its Dead Wood Detention attack.  This attack does 80 damage but causes the defending Pokémon’s attack to cost two more energy during their next turn.  So, the strategy I’ve used for this deck is to control your opponent’s energy.  So, crushing hammer is a must to discard any energy making it more difficult for them to attack.  Giovanni’s Charisma can get energy

I’ve been trying to build a meme deck around Brambleghast since it came out for its Dead Wood Detention attack.  This attack does 80 damage but causes the defending Pokémon’s attack to cost two more energy during their next turn.  So, the strategy I’ve used for this deck is to control your opponent’s energy.  So, crushing hammer is a must to discard any energy making it more difficult for them to attack.  Giovanni’s Charisma can get energy off your opponents active Pokémon and energy onto yours.  Rugged helmet will put energy into their hand when they attack you.  The 3 energy cost for Bramgleghast’s attack is rough.  I tried this deck with Gardenia’s Vigor but it simply couldn’t get the deck going quick enough.  This is why I’m using Forretress ex’s ability to accelerate energy instead.  Since you’re losing two price cards I’ve put two reversal energies into the deck which can come in handy in a pinch.  It’s two energy cost can make it work as an attacker too from time to time.  Radiant Venasaur fits well into the deck for a secondary attacker and some draw support when needed.  The deck isn’t terribly difficult for you opponent to play around, they can retreat after you attack and ignore the two extra energy requirement.  I added Calamitous Wasteland to help with that a little.  Calamitous Wasteland only works on basics though.  I’ve debated using practice studio for an extra 10 damage from the attack, but I don’t think it is worth it.  Manaphy & Jirachi are in the deck to protect the bench, if you opponent has no bench attackers then they are discard fodder for your ultra ball.  I have the Crisis Punch TM in here.  My thought was use the reversal energy with Crisis Punch, but when testing the deck I haven’t encountered that scenario, this card may not have a place in the deck.  I found this deck can manage the discard pile while well with the 2 super rods, 2 pals pads, Klara, and Roxanne.
