Deck Primer

This is my favorite Single Prizer deck from Silver Tempest. It is so busted, I'm currently on a 10-win streak and I'm playing on TCG Live, so it includes a lot of Lugia (and I don't have a hard counter for Lugia, it even resists my attacks!)

The deck is obviously playing the [Mystery Charge] Claydol, which is the center of the deck. This is why the only supporter I play is Grant (since I can get it back in my hands). You need to get two Claydol in play as fast as possible, which is why I use Snorlax

You need to get two Claydol in play as fast as possible, which is why I use Snorlax as a setup Pokemon to draw Quickly. Most of the time, two Claydol is enough, but try to head toward 3 Claydol toward the end of the game since you will eventually run out of energy in the deck and the opponent might get rid of your Training Court.

Main attacker is Stonjourner that hits for a wooping 190 damage, 2HKO most Pokemons in the game, but I also have Galarian Zapdos and Terrakion to play the stall game, if I'm stuck. Worse case scenario, it is even possible to paralyze EVERY SINGLE TURN with Zapdos and KO with Terrakion to be immune next turn, but this is no fun ;). Or to be quicker you can also alternate each turn between Zapdos and Terrakion, since Terrakion retreat cost is 3, the same as the attack cost.

Furthermore, I have some other tech that are really awesome in the deck:

- Yveltal can be nice against Lugia, Durant, Mew and other deck that plays special energy.

- Jynx is so nice because it doesn't give prize cards when killed by a V (obviously) AND only requires 2 Energies to attack. The Energy cost is crucial here because it will happen that you will lose your Stadium or one Claydol so you won't be able to attach three Energies. And it is a good proxy to Terrakium when playing against a deck with Shred (Hello Mew, Duraludon, Regidraco!)

- Zygarde is also AWESOME. This is a perfect surprise late game, so don't reveal until the perfect moment. Even with Stonjourner you can't OHKO Vstar or Vmax, so you will find smart player who will just retreat their Pokemon since they know you don't play Boss. Wait until the opponent has 2 or 1 Prize cards left and throw the Zygarde to a big surprise 160 or 200 damage on the bench. Also perfect to KO careless Crobat/Lumineon. And indeed you see that I don't even play Pokemon Catcher, which makes the Zygarde even more important (I don't play the catcher because of the randomness, I find other cards more useful).

- Last but not least: Ditto! This card might be cutable, but it is acually really good for many reasons. Obviously, this can replace any of the attacker that were killed or discarded earlier in th game. But also, it is Normal type, so you can copy Stonjourner's attack to deal 190 damage to Lugia, (or Mew, ShadowRider), totally ignoring the Resistance. Other fun thing to do: You can copy Terrakion attack AND next turn use the attack of another Pokemon. This way, unlike with Terrakion, you won't have to retreat and lose 3 Energies so you can start preparing your bench by attaching energies there.

Main challenges of the deck and additional tips:

- Consistency: Obviously, the deck can't play any supporters so if you have a bad hand, it can be hard to get out of this situation. Snorlax and Greninja are there to make the start as good as possible. Luckily, once this deck is started, it is nearly unstoppable so spare all efforts to make your start as good as possible. It is totally fine to give up two, or even three prize cards early game to setup your board since with Zapdos, Terrakion and Zygarde you can take 6 prize cards at the same time than preventing your opponent to take a single one.

- Don't overbench!!!: Since this is a box style deck, I play many basic Pokemon. It could be tempting to bench them early game to make Snorlax draw more cards, but be careful since you might need that space for another Baltoy or another attacker that you didn't have earlier. And don't waste/discard your Nets too early, they will save your life!

- Beware of Boss: Terrakion is immune to attacks, so obviously you'll get boss'ed. Try to predict when and what you'll get boss, maybe by preparing another Baltoy or by placing a Lucky Egg strategically. When you paralyze opponents with Zapdos, you might even get boss trap, often a Claydol because of the 2 retreat costs. By chance you can attack energy with the ability to retreat, but if you don't have any backup, it is useless. Keeping a Net in hand can help to get out of these Boss Trap.

- Beware of counter-stadiums: Training Court is crucial for the deck when you only have 2 Claydol, especially late game. Be sure to have energy in hand or another stadium when you feel like they will remove the Training Court. Preparing a third Claydol is also a good idea.

- Draw is less important late game: When you are setup, the deck you go by itself. Don't hesitate to ditch the Greninja for another attacker or a third Claydol.

Finally:

DON'T GIVE UP

And I say this at two levels: At the game level but also at the learning of the deck. The deck is really good at making comebacks. As I said, even when the opponent has 3 or 4 prize cards in advance, you can still win! Also, this deck is not that easy to play. There are a lot of moving pieces, a lot of decisions to take (unless you take the easy way and paralyze each turn :P ). It took me a while to make the deck playable and to learn how to play it, but so far I'm really satisfied!

I hope you enjoy, and let me know if you have any idea to improve it!

Things I'm personally thinking of changing:

- One or two more Fighting Energy

- Fourth Scoop-up Net

- Fourth Training Court

- Fourth Trekking Shoes (Or Replacing by Gutsy Pickaxe)

- Adding a counter to Big Parasol as the Parlyze is my last resort against things like PikaFly Vmax

A Wailord ex tank deck could beat this because you would be discarding a lot of Pokémon for ditto to do it's thing. I suggest you add a trainer card that lets you retrieve Pokémon for that purpose. And a heavy attacker like mega Charizard, white kyurem, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion Ur_Usual. However, I don't really need to discard Pokemon for Ditto to do its thing. Ditto is a late game backup Pokemon. I will use it when other Pokemon have been defeated. So I doin't need to discard Pokemon specifically for Ditto.

As for retrieving the Pokemon, I already play a Rod in the deck, I might add a second one if it is necessary.

However, concerning the damage output, I don't think I have an issue here. First of all, this is just a Standard deck so I can't play any of your suggestion. And between Paralysis and Immunity, I don't need to One shot everything. hitting 220 damage for a Single Prize deck is sufficient in my opinion. I'm not specifically looking for huge OHKO, I can stall and do 2HKO pretty confortably and since I don't play 2-prize cards Pokemon.

I was actually playing a deck very simmilar to this and you inspired me to make a couple change but the major difference from mine and this is I use the poke stop (4) engine since there are so many items and it helps early game consistency so much.

Also you mentioned no boss in the deck, I play cross switcher for the effect of boss.

Hey Squirtle38

Nice to see a fellow Claydol player! I actually really like the idea of the Pokestop engine. I didn't use it in the end because I felt that Training Court was too important when you only have 2 Claydol in play. But I might try a Claydol Pokestop deck too soon. (I'm actually working on a Lucario+Claydol deck with the PokeStop!) Post Rotation, this will probably be the way to go!

As for the Cross Switcher, this is a wonderful idea indeed! I had it in my deck at first, but I had to cut it in the end

I've been having a lot of fun worth the deck, I got to a 7 win streak by happening to not face Mew vmax decks. I don't see how this deck can ever beat Mew vmax unless the mew player is just super bad or is profoundly unlucky. I had the best possible start against a mew deck, but they just had a better one. Their first turn going second KO my snorlax with meloetta cuz of Elise's Sparkle, next round boss my claydol, next round escape rope my claydol, next round boss my claydol.

Boss's Orders seems to be the biggest counter card to the deck because it's basically an instant lose if they take out your claydol. I've been playing around with a version of the deck that wants to go second and use diancie for draw power rather than snorlax, because Diancie gives bench immunity to supporters.

I would also suggest throwing a lost vacuum in the deck because it's also an instant loss if they play big parasol since you can't stun them. A tool jammer or tool scrapper could also work; but getting lost zones out of there is helpful also if you don't have training court in hand.

slithrey  Thanks for playing my deck! I really appreciate it!

Mew indeed is an hard matchup since it can find switching cards easily and isn't affected by the immunity. My way to beat it is to go Yvetltal. I beat 2 or 3 Mew just by removing all its FTE ou Fusion Strike Energy. After that it couldn't do a thing. But it doesn't change the fact it is a hard matchup. To be fair, I thought of adding a Drapion for the Mew mathcup too, but I decided to keep it as a purely single prize deck.

And I totally agree with the Tool Scrapper/Vacuum, this is one of the possible changes I suggested in the description.

The idea of Diancie is good and all, but I prefer Snorlax to help me setup my board. If you can setup 3 or 4 Claydol quickly, you don't mind being boss ;) But Diancie is a good idea too, I might try it. And to be fair, when you have Terrakion in Active and you get gust, this is a really good thing since it means you will keep the energy on Terrakion, making the rest of the game so much easier since you are one turn in advance.

slithrey Oh and another possible way beat Mew is by going straight damage. You can start by killing Meloetta, then 2 shot a Mew Vmax, than sniping a Genesect with Zygarde. If Mew retreats, you can simply snipe it too with Zygarde. The deck almost do perfect math, even with the resistance, but it is assuming the opponent doesn'T play Oricorio unfortunately. But if that's the case, then Ditto can be used to "remove" the resistance. Of course I'm not saying it is an easy task, but between this and Yveltal, beating Mew is definitively possible.
