Deck Primer

I apologize for being away for a while, I've become quite busy but I did find time to post this deck.

Placeholders:

Misty's Psyduck is a placeholder for the Psyduck Promo Card with the Ability Damp.

Strategy: I strongly suggest to go second with this deck. Anyways, you should try to attempt to get out the following Pokémon during your First Turn:

  • 2-3 Charmander
  • 1-2 Pidgey
  • Tatsugiri (If you're able to get it into the Active Spot and if you want to help yourself search for a Supporter

  • Tatsugiri (If you're able to get it into the Active Spot and if you want to help yourself search for a Supporter Card)
  • Psyduck (If you're against a deck that plays cards similar to Dusclops/Dusknoir and Magneton from Surging Sparks)
  • Any other Pokémon of your choice.

Anyways with this being said, I will now move onto the Pokémon Explanations subsection.

Pokémon Explanations:

Tera Dark(ness) Charizard ex, the main focus of this deck, has the Ability Infernal Reign which allows you to search your deck up to 3 Basic Fire Energies and attach them to your Pokémon in any way you like. This is clearly a strong Ability as it accelerates Basic Energy which csn let you attack with Zard's Attack, Burning Darkness which deals a base damage of 180 and does 30 more damage for each Prize Card your Opponent has taken. Zard's Infernal Reign Ability also helps accelerate Basic Fire Energy to any other Pokémon that you can potentially attack with such as Chi-yu, Mega Charizard X ex, Pidgeot ex, etc. Anyways, Mega Charizard X ex is one of your other primary attackers as it does 90 Damage for each Basic Fire Energy Card discarded from any of your Pokémon and it also allows Oricorio ex's Ability Excited Turbo to work which allows you to attach a Basic Fire Energy from your hand to one of your Benched Fire Pokémon, as often as as you like during that turn.

Fezandipiti ex should be self-explanatory as to why it's here since it's a staple in pretty much every single deck, but it's here for draw support as if one of your Pokémon was KO'd during your Opponent's previous turn, you are able to draw 2 cards. Pidgeot ex is here for its Ability, Quick Search which lets you search your deck for any card and then you add it to your hand, and Pidgeot also serves as a backup attacker being able to deal 120 damage and with the secondary effect of letting you discard the stadium in play. Psyduck is here to help against matchups that play Dusknoir or Magneton (SSP) and Tatsugiri is here to help find Supporter Cards.

This concludes the Pokémon Explantions subsection, so I shall now move onto the Trainer Card Explanations subsection.

Trainer Card Explanations:

Lillie's Determination shuffles your hand into your deck to draw a new hand of 6 cards, but if you have exactly 6 Prize Cards remaining, you draw 8 cards instead. Arven is here to help you search for your Item and Tool Cards, Iono provides disruption by making both players shuffle their hands into the bottom of their decks and then both players draw as many cards as they have Prize Cards remaining which is helpful as you can lower your Opponent's hand after they took some/many Prize Cards and can help you win games at times by removing their win-cons, Boss's Orders helps you gust up/bring up one of your Opponent's Pokémon which can be extremely helpful in various scenarios, Turo's Scenario can reset one of your Pokémon by putting it into your hand and all the attached cards into the discard pile (not the previous stages if it's evolved), and Dawn allows you to get a Basic Pokémon, a Stage 1 Pokémon, and a Stage 2 Pokémon.

Buddy-Buddy Poffin is here to help you get out 2 Basic 70 HP Pokémon onto your Bench and not only does it help with that, it also allows you to see what's in your deck to help determine what you prized within your Prize Cards. Now for Ultra Ball, you first have to discard 2 cards from your hand and if you do, you can get out any 1 Pokémon and add it into your hand; like previously mentioned for Buddy-Buddy Poffin, you're able to see what is in your deck to help determine what you prized within your Prize Cards. Counter Catcher provides additional gust when you're behind on Prize Cards, can also save you from using Boss's Orders that turn and use a different Supporter Card as well. Superior Energy Retrieval pairs well with Mega Charizard X ex and Oricorio ex as you can recover your Basic Fire Energies and then use Oricorio's Ability to attach the Fire Energy to your Benched Fire Pokémon, to then attack with Mega Zard again. Super Rod provides recovery for your Pokémon and Basic Energies by shuffling up to a combination of 3 from your discard pile back into your deck. Rare Candy allows Basic Pokémon to immediately evolve into a Stage 2 Pokémon if it's not the same turn you put it into play and allows you to skip using a Stage 1.

Artazon helps you get a Basic Non-Rulebox Pokémon onto your Bench and lets you search through your deck to see what you prized within your Prize Cards. Battle Cage prevents all Damge Counters from being placed on all Benched Pokémon on both sides, this is mainly to counter Dragapult ex decks.

Technical Machine: Evolution/TM: Evo(lution) allows you to evolve 2 of your Benched Pokémon into its next stage, this is helpful if you're going this on your first turn going second, a slow match in general, or if you're under an item-lock. Air Balloon makes the Pokémon attached to have a Retreat Cost of 2 Colorless less; it's helpful at making pretty much any Pokémon of yours a pivot, it's especially helpful for Tasugiri. Now for the ACE SPEC of choice, Maximum Belt. Maximum Belt allows the Pokémon that it is attached to deal 50 more damage to ex Pokémon, this includes Megas. This pairs very well with Zard as you can scale your damage a lot quicker.

This concludes the Strategy section, so I hope you have a good rest of your day! Feel free to leave any comments, any suggestions, ask almost any questions, or to make any changes! Now for those who want suggestions on what cards they might want to add in, the CTC section will be covered.

CTCThe cards that I'd recommend to add into this deck are suggestions for you to try out or try to fit your preferences will be sorted into a list with a brief description for every card. If there any cards here or from your own thoughts/ideas that you'd wish to add into this deck, cut out any cards that you don't find too useful. With this being stated, here is the list:

Pokémon:

  • 1 80 HP Charmander - Gives a free pivot by having free Retreat Cost when no Energy is attached to it, and can help survive a Phantom Dive + Hawlucha.
  • 2nd Mega Zard - If you want more consistency for Mega Zard and if you want to lean more towards a centered build on Mega Zard.
  • 2nd 60 HP Pidgey - Self-explanatory.
  • 1 Moltres (PFL) - Gives another single prize attacker that does 120 damage to ex Pokémon.
  • 1 Munkidori - Moves up to 30 damage from 1 of your Pokémon to 1 one of your Opponent's Pokémon.

Trainers:

  • 4th Arven - Self-explanatory.
  • 3rd Iono - Provides more disruption.
  • 1 Briar - If your Opponent has exactly 2 Prize Cards remaining, your Tera Zard will take an extra Prize Card on the Pokémon that it KOs during the turn you play Briar.
  • 1 Nest Ball - Helps find any Basic Pokémon and adds it to your Bench.
  • Unfair Stamp - Self-explanatory.
  • 1 Town Store - Alternative stadium to 1 Battle Cage.
  • 1 Defiance Band - When you're behind on Prize Cards, the Pokémon it's attached to does 30 more damage.

Energies:

  • 9 total Basic Fire Energies - For a more focused build on Mega Zard.
  • 1 Mist Energy - Provides additional barrier effects for the Pokémon it's attached to.
  • 1 Luminous Energy - For Munkidori.

I sadly don't understand Mega Zard I feel the deck is solid, but Mega Zard ruins some part of it There simply isn't enough energies to support a discard

LimeLemon avatar

Fair enough, the only reason I added one copy in was due to many other Zard decks out thete were running Mega Zard X so I just wanted to try it out and I found it decent at times, but there could definitely be more improvements to make it better. Despite that, thank you for your feedback and I hope you have a good day!
