I have a question. Why Superior Energy Retrieval (Paldea Evolved) instead of Energy Recycler (Battle Styles)? Is putting the cards directly in to your hand that much better than putting more energy in to your deck to use Chien-Pao ex (Paldea Evolved)'s ability and not have to discard any cards?

I've seen that and Energy Retrieval (Scarlet & Violet) being recommended for these types of builds.

Not trying to through shade, I'm genuienly curious and want to get better at deck building

Hi krdude

The main reason is i would say is late game four energy in the hand plus baxclubiers ability means extra attachments and when low on resources you may not have the switching items to get multiple chein ao ex ability off so thats why but i can speak for the author

krtdude Andypants23 The reason to run superior energy retrieval over recycler is because Chien-Pao's ability only works in the active. The only way that recylcer would work better is if you had the necessary switching items and even so it is just much harder pull off than superior energy retrieval. (also i am only playing 2 Chien-Pao, it's works better as a water toolbox instead of a Chien-pao deck)
