Deck Primer

The idea behind this deck is to quickly poison the opponent, and then increase the damage counters between rounds to kill them quickly and then stopping them from escaping.

There are several ways in this deck to be able to get the poisoned condition onto the opponent's Pokemon. Firstly most of the Pokemon in this deck can cause the poisoned condition with attacks, many of which with just 1 energy. You can also poison the opponent's by using the poison barb tool or even the Koga's Trap supporter

You can also poison the opponent's by using the poison barb tool or even the Koga's Trap supporter card. Best of all though, is if you have Garbodor (swsh2) on the bench and there is ANY kind of stadium in play you can poison the opponent's Pokemon as a free action with Garbodor's Poisonous Puddle ability.

Then once the opponent's Pokemon is poisoned, you want it to deal as much damage as possible and that's where Dragalge (SM12) comes into play. With just 1 energy he can increase the damage counters between turns from 1 to 10 counters. Then, if you have Toxicroak on the bench he adds an additional 2 damage counters and if you have the Virbank City Gym in play, that increases it 2 damage counters as well for a total of 14 damage counters, or 140 damage between EACH PLAYERS TURN!

Now, there are many ways to remove poison condition from Pokemon, so there are several cards in this deck to help stop the opponent from doing that. Firstly, if you have Muk (sm9) on the bench, then the opponent can't remove poison from evolving or devolving. Secondly, if you have Dragalge (xy2) on the bench, then any of the opponent's poisoned Pokemon CAN'T retreat at all. Then, finally if you switch from Virbank City stadium to Dust Island stadium after they're poisoned, then even if they use trainer cards to switch out the poisoned Pokemon, then ALL of the poison damage counters are moved to the newly active Pokemon instead.

Muk & Alolan Muk GX Tag Team is there to do the heavy lifting for round to round damage as he can heal himself 100 damage per round if the opponents active Pokemon is poisoned! And if they get any really big players out like another Tag Team Pokemon, he can use his GX attack to put 15 damage counters on them between rounds (which could get boosted to 17 if Toxicroak is still out!).

I'm new! But I'm working on my first deck with evolution Pokémon and it's a poison deck, I appreciate the reference and the detailed explanation! I was wondering why you have evolution incense instead of Wally or Evosoda? And why you're not using the Croagunk from maybe Steam Seige? Mine has a gear icon bottom right for the set (sorry I didn't check which set, it's from my old cards 58/114). Poison Up is one colorless energy. I appreciate anyone's feedback, really new to playing so trying to understand why this worked best
