FakandaSS Here is my take on it. Its built a lot more consistent and powerful so I hope you'll take some of it for your own! 😄
Also feel free to replace stone with balloon if ur piss poor. (I use number cards to represent pokemon cards so I probably shouldn't be talking but yeah)
Siegislash okay, this looks pretty good, although there are things that, personally, don't convince me. But it's much better than mine
FakandaSS No its ok, if you have any questions don't hesitate I don't bite! ❤️
Siegislash They are small details like why play with so little energy, I understand that you use Special Charge but it seems very extreme to me to play only with 4. Also the issue of Rare Candy, why carry 1 and only 3 Kakunas (I understand the point that you carry 4 Revitalizer, but it seems strange to carry only one Rare Candy). Carrying the Enhanced Hammer as the Beedrill Single Strike takes care of Pokémon that carry special energies. The issue of playing only one stadium seems strange to me, you should play at least 2 or 3 to take advantage of Guzma & Hala. And I also feel like the deck is missing a turn-based draw engine (Oranguru, Mew ex, Bibarel, Radiant Venusaur, etc...) you can't always trust Cynthia. It's just some things that don't convince me, but I insist, it's your deck, your version and if that's how you like to see it, I can't force you to play it my way. 🤝😃
Yeah ok FakandaSS some things are objective and are regardless of the "way you play".
- One thing that should resolve a lot of your questions is that this deck is a "compressor engine" meaning the whole playstyle has shifted from draw to compressing what you need and retrieving it. You CAN trust Cynthia and Iono in this case because each seeker is equivalent to one as long as its compressed.
- This is why compressor engines don't need draw.
- Also you missed the point of enhanced hammer. Beedrill single strike is actually completely useless against wash or mist energy carriers since they effectively block the knockout effect and Beedrill does nothing.
- About the energies, this is another place where compressor engine comes in. You can seeker a Guzma and hala at any point in time thanks to compressor, meaning the search of energy is scarcely a problem. after two special charge and roseanne (which can be cycled btw), a maximum of 13 energy (typically only 8 but whatever) can be used. Excess energy clogs up your deck at times, and in this deck it inevitably will.
- For rare candy, I might be in the wrong a little bit here, since you don't actually need to cycle that many Beedrill in order to win, but not using that many rare candy is originally for cycle potential, since rare candies cannot be restored, I intended to rely on Kakuna more. Looking back I do realize that cycle potential isn't very important for a deck that's whipping out guarenteed knockouts.
Compressor Engine is what makes Expanded such a good format. Its just so much more consistent than standard draw, and if you understand how powerful it can be as long as you have a reason for running it, it will feel like a pain going back to standard draw. I hope you can take a compressor engine deck out for a spin and witness its power. 😌
Siegislash I now see more clearly the power of Battle Compressor. But then isn't it better to carry 4 Battle Compressor?
FakandaSS Yes that would make sense and its kinda subjective at this point, because the pros of that include:
- more consistent compressors
- ability to thin out the deck afterwards
Cons include:
- rendered obselete after the second compressor due to all useful cards compressed already
- inconsistency in late game play
You see how you can kinda play it both ways? Personally I chose to put 3, because 3 is good enough so that it can be found easily with dedenne, draw supports and trainer's mail. And not too much as in clogging up the deck late game. However, carrier 4 does have it's advantages, so in a case like this, you can kinda choose. 🥰
Siegislash now I understand everything. I'll try to get Battle Compressors for my deck, although at the moment I'm finishing my Standard deck
