Deck Primer

My first foray into Expanded in 5 or so years. The deck has treated me quite well and is enjoyable to play and reasonably fast paced.

Darkrai-GX provides versatility with its ability to put on the prize pressure against an early game 3 prize Pokemon or hang out in the discard pile until late game when it can easily close a game with its GX attack. In addition to its function as an attacker, it can bring more energy to the board for Darkrai VStar or Greninja & Zoroark-GX to nuke something.

Moltres V is your early and mid game attacker, easily ramping into 3 energy with just a little setup and handily taking out a number of sub 190 HP Pokemon. Like Darkrai-GX, Moltres V provides energy acceleration for Darkrai VStar and Greninja & Zoroark-GX in the late game.

Darkrai VStar's Dark Pulse isn't anything new, but its Star Abyss ability is exceptional. Dark type decks are well known for their discard pile recursion and Star Abyss is your most potent form of that in this deck. This ability wins the game on its own quite often and will put you on a clear path to victory even more frequently. In poor situations, it is typically your best hope to turn the tables on your opponent.

I chose Greninja&Zoroark GX over an additional 1-1 Darkrai V/Darkrai VStar to open up 1 slot, and also because it can be setup with a Max Elixir, while Darkrai VStar cannot.

Crobat V, Dedenne-GX and Radiant Greninja all provide acceleration, but they can also clog your bench, so 2 Sky Field can help clear up that issue. Do your best to get your bench to 7 so if/when an opposing Stadium comes into play (or your own Black Market), you can clear Crobat V and Dedenne-GX from the board. Note that Crobat V can apply poison, which can potentially set up Darkrai-GX's GX attack on the following turn in an emergency.

Darkrai-EX provides free retreat should Float Stones not be an option, but is certainly not mandatory in my opinion. A 2nd Darkrai-GX, a single prize attacker, or something like Umbreon & Darkrai-GX could all work well in its place.

The deck will be thinned quickly, so I've chosen Dowsing Machine over Computer Search as I'd typically prefer to recur something from my discard pile than find something in my deck.
