The thing I found about Expanded decks is that if they can only hit big damage and have nothing else going for them, it will have a hard time competing with the meta. For example, Gouging Fire's shtick is hitting big numbers. However, it is easily one of, if not, the fastest decks to do so. Regidrago hits the big numbers, but it's the sheer utility of having access to... literally everything else that makes it a top deck. Lugia enables the most overpowered Energy acceleration engine in the game, so it opens the floodgates for several other combinations to be made within itself. Ultra Necrozma, while not hitting for huge damage, is the most effective single prizer for its ability to hit respectable damage, alongside disrupting the opponent both energy and ability-wise.

CountyGibbon798 yeah, I've been making a lot of expanded decks more just for fun on here (31 energy avalugg mill for example); I am not making almost any of them in real life, and also the only place to play Pokémon in my city is expanded but very much NOT competitive and I could probably get away with most decks. That being said I do plan to make the Shadow Rider deck I made here so if you wanted to look at that that would be useful, thanks.
I know the feeling. I'd be a hypocrite to say that my decks are supposed to be competitive! I'll look at your Shadow Rider build when I see it!
