Base Fossil format decklist. This 'Haymaker' style build looks to keep constant pressure on your opponent by setting up 2 Dodrio and rotating freely between Electabuzz, Hitmonchan one of the better pink things in the format: Clefable- all while threatening solid damage with a single Energy. This aggressive and persistent deck can operate almost entirely on a single energy, rendering Super Energy Removal sub-optimal and Energy Removal only mildly irritating.

The high density of Professor Oaks has a very specific purpose in this list: getting the deck online quickly. 4 copies of Oak are to make sure you can set up an ideal bench scenario with a high probability to see one in the first few turns. An ideal bench and active setup would be: 1-2 Hitmonchan, 1-2 Clefable, 1-2 Electabuzz, 2 Dodrio. This allows you to easily maneuver your bench around with cheap or free retreat cost to keep your opponent on their toes, changing typing often to gain advantage. Once you are set up or close to set up, it is time to keep the pressure on your opponent with Energy Removals, damage and Gust of Wind. Often you will not need to draw deeper into your library and should instead seek to get as far as you can with your setup, preserving resources and your library size to avoid decking out.

Be sure to keep an eye on quantities of cards remaining in your Library, as this deck runs a wide breadth of tools- but often only a copy or two. You will need access to these tools sometimes multiple times, so make sure you are not too greedy with Oaks and discarding tools you may never see again (specifically Item Finder, as they are pretty key in closing out games). Also it should be noted that with 4x Oaks, decking yourself is very easy to do- EXTRA emphasis on not being greedy during set up, as it will almost certainly cost you the game.

Pilots of this list should only really be playing energy when they plan to use an attack or before an oak, as there's really no benefit loading up energy all over the bench and asking to be ER'd. The exception to this is Electabuzz of course, as the only real attacker that can make good use of 2 energy. If you have a spare fighting energy throw it on him for the eventual Electric, retreat into buzz, slap for 40.

Retreating Pokemon early in the game or using Oak and Computer Search to pitch colored energy can actually be somewhat beneficial to this deck since it runs 2 energy types. Don't be afraid to get something out of harm's way before Dodrio is online or search for a key basic Pokemon, Energy Retrieval can benefit this deck greatly by helping with color-fixing.

Fade Runner pilots should switch active Pokemon often to swing matchups in their favor and deny prize cards. Complete with a triangle of typing that includes Clefable's ability to clean up format monsters like Mewtwo, this deck so far performs very well against the meta (primarily only having problems out-pacing Haymaker and occasional bumps against good stall lists). If stall is bringing Moltres or Mewtwo to the table, be sure to introduce them to Clefable.
