Palafin ex (Twilight Masquerade)  has some extraordinary stats, but has a major limitation: It can't be put in play without the use of Palafin (Twilight Masquerade) . I don't know about y'all, but I absolutely hate this rule. I know I know they were trying to replicate what palafin does in the core series, but its playstyle is not even Pokemon anymore. Its Yu-gi-oh.

Pay attention to how the "Hero's Spirit" limitation is an ABILITY, so that means as long as its turned off, it can evolve directly from finizen. Most standard cards don't actually turn off abilities for cards in your HAND, but cards in the past, such as Silent Lab (Primal Clash) , Wobbuffet (Phantom Forces) , and Garbodor (BREAKpoint) do actually turn off cards in hand. Abuse palafin's stats by turning off Hero's Spirit with either Wobbuffet in active, or Garbodor with a tool. Don't forget that this also helps as ability lock cripples opponent's setup as well.

Specific Cards:

Guzma (Burning Shadows) - Guzma is typically better than Boss since even though you are forced to switch, more than half the time the switch is useful, especially in this deck since switching to a garbodor then retreating allows the same palafin to attack consistently.

Acerola (Burning Shadows) and Scoop Up Cyclone (Twilight Masquerade)  - Recovery. Palafin is almost guarenteed (almost- looking at you raging bolt, chien-pao, and whatever else in expanded that has damage that varies on a gimmick) to survive a hit with a bulky 340 HP, so pick it up and send another palafin in to battle.

Float Stone (BREAKthrough) - Before its noted why I have a full playset of stones, remember that literally every pokemon in this deck can benefit from having one, since wobbuffet needs to be in active to activate it ability, then switch out, Garbodor needs a tool to even work, and palafin can switch to either another palafin or double switch for attack consistency.
