EDIT: After re-reading Golisopod, I had forgotten he discards an energy upon attack- the recycle cards make a little more sense now, but I still think 4 Super Rod might be high. Grain of salt!
Hello there! Not too shabby for your first take on a build! A couple of things that may help:
Your supporter count seems a bit low. Most decks run aorund 7-8 supporters that either draw or tutor (so not counting Boss in this), meaning you've only got 3 with the 3 Iono. I'd try to squeeze in at least 4 more supporters that either draw/hand refresh, or search directly for cards in your deck. Colress is a pretty popular one for stage 2 decks, but you may want to consider Irida since this is more or less a water deck- great for getting rare candy + baxcalibur in a single go! I realize you also have bibarel for draw, but that can be completely shut down with a Boss + KO so you don't want to put yourself into top-deck mode relying on hoping you draw into an Iono if your hand is bad/low after losing Bibarel (trust me, they WILL Boss+KO it, especially if they see you're not playing many supporters.)
Next, you'll likely want more pokemon search- 2 nest and 2 ultra is a little skimpy. 4 VIP is pretty standard, but man does it suck when you don't hit any turn 1. If you want to avoid VIP Pass, I'd go 4 Nest balls and maybe 1 more Ultra. The new Poffin card coming out can replace VIP later after rotation.
Path to the Peak is super good, and I love it. However you may benefit more from Beach Court more, to guarantee retreat out of you stall cards. I'd also consider switching at least 1 or 2 of the Switch Carts to either Switch or Escape Rope- an opponent may Boss up a Baxcalibur or Bibarel to try and stall, so not having to waste energies to retreat may be beneficial. Though rain>retreat>recycle is an option with your current build with so many recycle cards, so up to your preference on that.
Your Super Rods seem a bit high at 4- 2 might do you just fine, especially if you go with Irida which can tutor it out if need be. 4 also means a higher chance of starting with it, and it's a dead card early game.
While raining your energies down is important for quick set-up, this deck isn't like Chien Pao which needs to consistently recycle and rain- so in theory, once you have a couple of Golisopod's fully powered, you may not need to recycle as much until one gets knocked out. For that reason, I'd consider adding an Earthen Vessel to get the energies out of the deck quicker instead of focussing solely on pulling them back once lost. Maybe cut a Super Energy Retrieval, and do 1 of each so you have options of where to pull the energy from when you need it? (again, tutorable via Irida)
But if you DO want to stay recycle-heavy, then we should definitely put in a Radiant Greninja- chuck some energy for extra draw, and puts those recycle cards to better use and makes them less dead early game. Not to mention having the snipe option of attacking with Greninja as a game ender, if need be. Nothing more fun than sniping 2 Pidgeys if they don't have a Manaphy down!
As far as what to cut, that's totally up to preference, but just as a frame of reference, the things I would personally consider cutting to make room for other stuff would be:
- 1-0-1 Baxcalibur Line (can also consider losing the middle form if you want, plenty of people skip those)
-2 Super Rod
-1 Super energy Retrieval
-1 Heavy Ball
-1 Golisopod EX (personal choice, many decks can get away with running a 4-3 line of a Stage 1 EX. I do this with Espathra EX)
-1 Double Turbo/water energy (maybe? only if you're in dire need to fit one more card in)
Side note, if you want to be a complete silly-goose, throw in 1 or 2 Iron Valiant EX. Switching into them after a Golisopod EX attack still triggers their ability, letting you get a free 20 more damage on the board. Not consistent or necessary for your current build, just a fun thought :)
Hope this can give you some ideas! Welcome to the TCG, have fun, and happy building!
I don't feel like writing a suggestion. Its all in the comment below
I'd cut the baxcalibur line and bibarel line. Radiant greninja seems stronger here (multi prizer). Baxcalibur isn't necessary, you mostly attach only one or two energies each turn since gollisopod spends most time on the bench. Palkia vstar had be a great replacement instead! (if too scare of being bossed, maybe leaf poncho had help) Maybe one more mimikyu? Seems to skinny to me since championships decks are only meta decks. Amount of ultra balls and nest balls is to skinny too, as CobaltX6 already mentioned, as for path, beach court is much better in this deck. I'd cut the path and two switch cart, and besides, what about irida? Cut some super rod to add those?
