Deck 3/20 in my quest to make a deck for every PAR pokemon ex.

Hoopa ex's Energy Crush attack is pretty strong, but since it's not a dark pokemon you can't accelerate energy onto it with Dark Patch. So, because of that, you'll need to use Energy Switch after using Dark Patch or a Moltres to get the second energy on. However, considering there are decks like Chien-Pao that discard their own energy to attack, plus decks like Charizard and Mew VMAX that don't use enough energy for you to hit really hard. Plus, having a psychic weakness is a bit of a pain in the current competitive scene. So, this isn't your best choice if you want to play a dark deck.

Feedback is welcome if you have any.

Maybe x1 Grant to break certain HP barriers? It's also easily recoverable so you don't really need to use more than one. Other than that, I really like this!

AlphaNova avatar

CountyGibbon798 I should probably do that.

Considering I forgot to put Gutsy Pickaxe in another fighting deck, you can probably tell that I'm not very familiar with fighting type decks lol. Thanks for the suggestion! Glad you liked the deck!

AlphaNova It's odd because Fighting in theory has a ton of useful tools (Garchomp ex, Grant, Gutsy Pickaxe, Rock Chestplate), but they never seem to land well as a deck :/

AlphaNova avatar

CountyGibbon798 Yeah... They'd probably do a lot better if it weren't for the fact that psychic decks are so popular. I'm hoping that fighting decks will become more popular after rotation, because Gardevoir ex will lose a ton of useful cards, and Mew VMAX will just rotate out entirely. Plus, none of the fighting support cards you listed will rotate out, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

AlphaNova I'm sure it would be popular if Korrina (Furious Fists) was still in the format.

Gardevoir isn't really losing a whole lot, because the Kirlia has the F regulation mark that rotates in 2025. And what it does lose, like VIP pass, everything else loses. Sorry but it's sticking around.

It's losing Fog Crystal, Zacian V, Mew (Celebrations), Kirlia (Chilling reign) and Gardevoir (Chilling Reign) as well, which will make it lose a lot of utility and attacking power.

Post rotation, it will likely rely on cards likeDrifloon (Scarlet & Violet) andScream Tail (Paradox Rift) to do damage, and those will rely heavy on health boosting tools like Bravery Charm and Ancient Booster Energy Capsule, and will likely be harder to set up.

Maybe it'll stick around, but it's going to lose a lot of power in my opinion, so it won't be as dominant as it has been.

I honestly think this card would fit nicely into a Darkrai VSTAR (Astral Radiance) / Roaring Moon ex (Paradox Rift) deck. Basically as an easy counter for the Miraidon ex (Scarlet & Violet) decks that are in hevy rotation rn.

DreaMerClouDe Unfortunately, I'm not sure if Hoopa will be that useful with Roaring Moon, considering RM can already effectively stay ahead in the prize trade against multi prize decks like Miraidon. Don't let that stop you from running it if that's what you want though! Who knows, maybe I'm wrong about it not being good!

p.s. sorry for the late reply I've been a bit busy lately
