Deck Primer

V4 of my first deck idea. The strategy is to set up a Xatu engine while discarding pokemon to power up Houndstone. Discard is powered by Ultra Ball, Earthen Vessel, Kirlia, Superior Energy Retrieval, and Professor's Research.

Main attacker is either version of Houndstone. Playing both 1 prize and 2 prize houndstones lets you change up how you approach different matchups.  If you can get 12 mons in the discard, you power up Houndstone to 200 damage for just 2 energy (on a 1 prize attacker!),

If you can get 12 mons in the discard, you power up Houndstone to 200 damage for just 2 energy (on a 1 prize attacker!), and 280 damage for Houndstone EX.

Support mons are the highly powerful Xatu. Acting as both acceleration and card draw, which helps to free up deckspace. Since Houndstone EX requires a high 3 energy investment, you need acceleration to keep up pace. (I used to play Geeta but that card is dead in many scenarios.) Experimenting with Kirlia, whose refinement ability replaces Pokestop. Further support mons include Mimikyu and Spiritomb, which can stonewall many decks - buying valuable time to set up the Xatu engine.

Some non-standard trainers include Tulip and Superior Energy Retrieval. Tulip is a nice 2-of due to the nature of discarding. Tulip allows you to keep psychic energy in hand for Xatu, while also banking mons for later when you are setting up Houndstone. Superior Energy Retrieval works double duty as a discarder for Houndstone, while also ensuring psychic energy is available for Xatu.
