Deck Primer

Here we go again!
I’m finally back on pokemoncard.io after a long break—and I brought a frosty little menace. Meet Freezing Shroud Tsareena (aka “the Ice Queen”). It’s a rogue that doesn’t try to out-damage the meta; it marks it for doom and lets the board state collapse under counters and clever gusts.

Core idea:

  • Tsareena ex – Icicle Sole: for a single Grass, set any of your opponent’s Pokémon—Active or Benched—to 30 remaining HP.

It’s placing damage counters, so it slips past Manaphy and all that “bench damage” stuff, and Tera keeps Tsareena safe from bench hits.

  • Froslass – Freezing Shroud: every Checkup, put 1 counter on each Pokémon with an Ability (yours too—so plan your bench!). Stack two or three Froslass and watch Ability boards melt.

  • Hero’s Cape turns Tsareena into a 310→410 HP glacier; while they chip, your counters tick.

  • Mimikyu (Safeguard) is the panic button—park it Active and a chunk of the format’s ex attackers can’t touch you. They burn a gust or scramble for a non-ex while your Shroud keeps pinging.

  • Counter Catcher and Boss’s Orders line up the 30-HP marks right when you want them.

  •
  • 2× Steenee means you’re not held hostage by Rare Candy—smooth, consistent evolves all game.

How it plays:
Open with Bounsweet + Snorunt; use Poffin/Artazon to fill the board, Arven to find Rare Candy + Cape, and start stamping 30-HP marks with Tsareena. Prioritize benching multiple Froslass—that’s your real ****. Hold Luminous until you need the TM turn or a tricky retreat. Keep your bench tight (remember: your own Abilities get pinged too). When you’re behind on prizes—as planned—Counter Catcher does the heavy lifting so your Supporter can be Iono/Research.

Matchup vibes:

  • Charizard ex / Pidgeot engines – Your best farm. Mark Zard/Pidgeot, stack Shroud, and K.O. with Shroud when the board is ripe.

  • Gardevoir ex – They flood Abilities; you punish them for it.

  • Miraidon / Gholdengo – Same story: Ability benches + Tsareena marks = tempo prison.

  • Dragapult ex – Limit your bench and race; Tera protects Tsareena on the bench, counters still add up.

This deck is all about map-reading: which Pokémon gets marked, when you wall with Mimikyu. Play it patient, and it turns today’s shiny engines into a frozen museum.

I’m super happy to be back posting on pokemoncard.io—feels good to share brews again. If you want to see the list in action, hang out while I ladder, or just talk rogue science, come by the stream: Twitch – VukManga. See you there, and stay chilly! 🧊🍃

PS. After some careful testing I have concluded that adding one Munkidori might bring in this "break" moment that I might need in this deck. But I will leave that to preference. It could drop the Mimikyu and one Froslass to drop in two Munkis and that is about as far as it goes.

Munkidori seems absolutely necessary in this deck, no?

Well to be honest it works just fine without. If you get OHKO by the opponent there are no counters to push back.

The counters on Mimi or Fez? Or dy think it's just not worth it?
