Iono's bellibolt ex

If Bellibolt ex’s ability sounds familiar, it’s basically a more narrow version of Baxcalibur’s Super Cold. Unlike Super Cold which lets you attach any number of water energies from your hand to any of your Pokemon, this stage one Pokemon’s ability only enables this effect for your Iono’s Pokemon.

Still, that’s pretty solid as you’ll have plenty of Iono’s Pokemon in play at any given time. You can use the energy you accelerate in this way to power up your Pokemon’s attacks, increase the damage output of Raging Bolt ex’s Bellowing Thunder, or to unlock Flashing Draw via your Kilowattrel. 

While Iono’s Bellibolt ex is mostly here for its ability, it also has a decent attack that hits for 230. That’s enough to knock out many two-prize Pokemon, making it a solid backup attacker.

Iono’s Bellibolt ex unlocks insane draw capabilities thanks to Kilowattrel. There’s a combo here you should know about to unlock really unparalleled draw, and that’s as follows:

Attach energy using Electric Streamer to your Kilowattrel

Discard energy using Flashing Draw

Use Levincia Stadium to bring two lightning energies back into your hand.

Rinse and repeat

Additionally you can use cards like Night Stretcher and Superior Energy Retrieval to bring energies back. While this isn’t exactly an infinite combo, you can certainly replenish your hand very reliably multiple times each turn, making Kilowattrel a powerful addition to Iono decks.

It’s a little mind blowing that an attacker like Iono’s Voltorb exists. A single prize attacker capable of scaling almost indefinitely is not something to take lightly. Not only does Voltorb enable you to take significant knockouts at will, it does so while enabling a favorable prize trade (in many situations). 

Finally a familiar face. Raging Bolt ex is actually this deck’s primary attacker. While you won’t be able to use Electric Streamer to accelerate energy onto it, you can use Bellowing thunder to discard any amount of energy from your Pokemon to scale this attack indefinitely.

While this attack has always been a solid option in a meta with a host of high HP attackers, it should only get stronger as new, three-prize Pokemon make their way into the game post Scarlet & Violet. 

Heading into the Journey Together meta, people aren’t really on the look out for Iono’s Belliblot ex. The deck hasn’t performed astoundingly well in Japan, and there are just too many other options to choose from right now.

That being said, I feel like this deck is largely overlooked. There’s just so much going for this deck, and so many tools at its disposal, that it feels like it has to be competitive at least on some level. With significant draw support, powerhouse attackers, and the versatility to attach energy as needed whenever, I could see Iono Bellibolt ex doing very well under the right circumstances.
