If Charizard ex can play with Pidgeot, why can't Venusaur ex? 

Ideal play is starting with Liligant V as your punching bag with Rotom V being an alternative choice for "unlimited" card draw. Early Pidgey "Call For Family" is also acceptable. Liligant's V-Star ability can gather your wrecking crew, and Gardenia's Vigor can get Venusaur ready. Once you're ready, VIOLA, you have a 380HP Venusaur ex that Charizard ex can't kill too easily. Switch-heal Venusaur ex can be a devastating play.

I will warn that when faced with a fire deck, gun for Radiant Charizard and Arcanine as they can and WILL wreck a good Venusaur ex. Use the pal pad to retrieve both Boss's from discard if needed.
