Anyways, it's been a while since I made a deck, so here's one featuring everyone's favourite underwhelming fire snail! Magcargo ex is able to deal up to 420 damage with its Ground Burn attack, providing that both you and your opponent both mill an energy card. Anyways, it's been a while since I made a deck, so here's one featuring everyone's favourite underwhelming fire snail! Magcargo ex is able to deal up to 420 damage with its Ground Burn attack, providing that both you and your opponent both mill an energy card. In order to do this, I'll be using the upcoming Stadium card Nighttime Academy (represented by Mesagoza in this deck)! Its effect is that both players can put a card from their hand onto the top of their deck, so you can put a Fire energy onto it, giving you 280 damage. If you want to take it FURTHER though, play Team Star Grunt on the same turn and put an energy from the opponent on top of their deck as well! The other upcoming card, Colress's Tenacity (represented by Colress's Experiment) sets up your combo, as it searches out both a Stadium and Energy card for you. Have fun!

How are you going to accelerate energy? Fire decks frequently use Magma Basin, but you are focused on Nighttime Academy, so I don't see how literally every other deck outpaces this on energy acceleration alone. Also I don't understand the purpose of Lava Zone Magcargo.

Tangent I KNEW I was missing something! And yeah, without basin it will be a tough one with work with. I can imagine using Magma Basin in the early game and then replacing it myself, but that would be tricky (Also, I have no clue what Iwas doing with the other Magcargo lol. I really am rusty at standard deckbuilding!)

If only Welder or Blacksmith was in standard. It would be perfect! If you wanted to work with Magma Basin too, I think Sawsbuck might be good for that. Otherwise, you may have to look elsewhere for energy acceleration.

Tangent Oh definitely. This deck looks like it could be good, but it clearly has stuff holding it back. I can imagine a Charizard hybrid for energy acceleration, but at that point you might as well just play Charizard lol.

Yeah I was going to suggest Charizard but yeah if you are playing it just make that the deck. It think it would work well in expanded with Welder and Smooth Over Magcargo. Otherwise you've got to look into Pokémon with attacks that can power it up, like Chi-Yu or Technical Machine: Turbo Energize. Wait that could be your energy acceleration!

Tangent I could add the TM Energize, but without Arven, I don't have a reliable way of searching it out.

Even without basin, assuming you dont get KOed turn 1, "Draw In" the attack on slugma can attach the extra energy.
