Deck Primer

This deck is no longer legal in the Standard format as of April 2026 (G block rotation). This is the last version of it I used pre-rotation, but I played many different engines with this.

I don't play any Expanded format (so I am ignorant of the meta), but I think with these cards now relegated to there, there is probably a way to make this work with stuff like Doduo, Damage Pump, etc.

Maybe I'll get around to adapting this to Expanded, but for now I'll just leave as-is in case someone else wants

Notes

  • Your strategy is to bench Cubones and have damage chipped on at least 1 of them (Risky Ruins). With 3 Cubone (with damage on at least 1) + Marowak's Bone Vengeance you can hit for 270 damage (60 + 120 + 3x30 Cheering Bone). Brave Bangle can add another 30, and each PPP can stack another 30 on top.
  • I've played this with and without the Garganacl. It's a bit clunky, and I think you're likely better off without it in Expanded. Before it rotated out, I used Xatu and Psychic Energy + Calamitous Snowy Mountain for energy acceleration, draw, and chip damage on the benched Cubones.
  • Damage Pump may be a godsend for this in Expanded. One of the hardest parts of this deck is getting all the pieces to work together. I imagine Dodrio (Zooming Draw) + Damage Pump could be a lot more consistent than relying on stadiums, but I haven't played Expanded ever.
