Many of the Pokemon ex from Scarlet & Violet are just too strong to let go of easy, and Charizard ex is a great example of an oldie-but-a-goodie staying relevant even this far into the Mega Evolution era. Despite having powerful new Charizard attackers at our disposal, you just can’t cut the Tera Charizard ex from Obsidian Flames from the equation due to its powerful Infernal Reign ability and attack that scales in damage output for each prize card your opponent has taken.

That being said, with the 2026 rotation rapidly approaching, Tera Charizard ex is out, and players will need to get used to running Mega Charizard X ex and Mega Charizard Y without it. That’s a lot more feasible, however, thanks to the powerful Oricorio ex we got back in Phantasmal Flames.

Charizard players will need to get used to Oricorio ex and its Excited Turbo ability in a post Charizard ex world. Luckily this Pokemon and its ability is no slouch, making it more than feasible to run a strong deck with just Mega Charizard X ex and Mega Charizard Y ex.

Use Mega Charizard X ex to take down mighty foes

Finally, Mega Charizard X ex is the ideal finisher for this unique deck strategy. While Tera Charizard ex is reliable attacker and energy accelerator, and Mega Charizard Y ex is there for its bench sniping potential, Mega Charizard X ex is your one-stop-shop for shutting down hyper powerful Mega Pokemon ex.
