You can't use Mega Gengar ex without evolving it from a Gastly and then to a Haunter (unless you are using rare candies to replace the Haunter). It is not a Basic Pokemon
I'm thinking you have to use the Grimsley's Move to play the Gengar. Idk how I feel about it but it definitely seems like a luck move to get it down if you're running it without the gastly and Haunter.
