Deck Primer

This deck has been updated for Phantasmal Flames!

Strategy: I strongly suggest going second with this deck, but going first is fine. Anyways, on your First Turn try and get out any of the following Pokémon:

- 2 Bulbasaur (Atleast 1 is required).

- 1-2 Chikorita

- 1-2 TM Ogerpon ex

- 1 Toedscool (if needed for decks like Gholdengo ex or if you want to have Toedscruel ex's protection).

- Any other Pokémon of your choice.

I will now move onto Pokémon Explanations.

Pokémon Explanations:

Mega Venusaur ex's Ability, Solar Transfer, alllws you to move Grass Energy from your Pokémon to another one of your Pokémon and this works any time during your turn. This pairs well with Meganium's Ability, Wild Growth, which makes all Grass Energy worth 2 instead of 1. Additionally, Mega Venusaur can be used as an Attacker with its Attack, 'Jungle Dump' which deals 240 Damage and heals 30 Damage from itself.

TM Ogerpon ex is apart of your main draw engine, and is your primary Attacker with Myriad Leaf Shower which can deal insane damage with Meganium in play.

Fezandipiti ex provide extra draw support. Toedscruel helps again decks that rely on recovery cards like Max Rod, Energy Retrieval, SER, Night Stretcher, etc. and Toedscruel ex provides protection from your Opponent's Pokémon's attack effects, which can be quite helpful and it's a decent backup attacker. Genesect (Phantasmal Flames) is your Snipe Attacker and Regigigas helps deal with matchups against Tera Pokémon decks, primarily Zard ex (Darkness/Dark Type) and Pult ex.

That concludes the Pokémon Explanations portion, so I will now be moving onto Trainer Card explanations.

T.C. Explanations: (Short for Trainer Cards)

Lillie's Determination lets you shuffle your hand into your deck and draw 6 cards, but if you have EXACTLY 6 Prize Cards remaining, you draw 8 instead of 6 cards. Dawn lets you search for a Basic, Stage 1, and Stage 2 Pokémon, effectively letting you set up instantly when it's not your First Turn since Forest of Vitality doesn't work doing that.

Iono and Boss's Orders are key staples in most decks, they're self-explanatory. Wally heals Mega Venu fully and removes Energy from it into your hand, which can be played around with due to Solar Transfer.

Bug Catching Set helps you find Grass Pokémon or Basic Grass Energy. Nest Ball finds Basic Pokémon, Ultra Ball finds any Pokémon, and Earthen Vessel lets you get 2 Basic Grass Energies.

Max Rod, the ACE SPEC of choice and Night Stretcher provides recovery. Max Rod, the ACE SPEC of choice allows you to get up to a combination of up to 5 Pokémon and Basic Energies from your Discard Pile, back into your hand. Forest of Vitality helps this deck function because it lets you evolve into your Staged Grass Pokémon instantly, even if you put them in play that turn. Though, it doesn't work during your First Turn.

This concludes the T.C. Explanations, so I will now move onto Basic Combos.

Basic Combos:

1.) Mega Venu's Solar Transfer, move them onto another Pokémon, use Turo's Scenario to remove Mega Venu, assuming you have Forest of Vitality in play, evolve Bulbasaur back to Mega Venu and use Solar Transfer again to move it back onto Mega Venu.

2.) Solar Transfer, move that energy to another Pokémon, use gust if needed, and attack with another Pokémon.

This concludes the Strategy section, so feel free to make any changes, leave any feedback/suggestions, or ask almost any question.

CTCThe cards that I'd recommend to add into this deck as an alternative for you to try out or try to fit your preferences will be sorted into a list with a brief description for every card. If there any cards here or from your own thoughts/ideas that you'd wish to add into this deck, cut out any cards that you don't find too useful. With this being stated, here is the list:

Pokémon:

- Any 2-2 Line of Bulbasaur and Ivysaur - Self-explanatory.

- Any 3rd Bulbasaur - Self-explanatory.

- Latias ex - Gives your Basic Pokémon Free Retreat.

- 2-2 Whimsicott Line (TEF) - Does the same thing as Wally upon Evolution but for Active Grass Pokémon and the Energy would be discarded.

- 1 Iron Leaves ex - Opts as a backup Attacker.

- 1 Maractus (JTG) - Corner stall.

- Budew - Stall with itchy pollen.

Trainer Cards:

- 2 Buddy-Buddy Poffin - For Chikorita and 70 HP Bulbasaur.

- 1 Counter Catcher - Provdies additionally gust.

- 1/2 Wally's Compassion - Provides a full heal to Mega Venusaur ex.

- Secret Box - Self-explanatory.

- Hero's Cape - Self-explanatory.

- 1 Air Balloon - Makes the retreat cost for one of your Pokémon cheaper by 2 colorless energies.

- 4th Forest of Vitality - Self-explanatory.

This concludes the CTC (Cards to Consider) section, feel free to do whatever you want with this deck and any of my previous decks.

Edits:

Edit #1: Replaced all the placeholder cards with their real cards, cut 1 Wally's Compassion for Turo's Scenario for a 1-1 Split, and cut Secret Box for Hero's Cape. This deck is a bit outdated and will be updated some day.

Edit #2: No longer for Mega Evolution Base, as it was updated for Phantasmal Flames. Wally's Compassion, Super Rod, 1 Nest Ball, Pokégear, 1 Bulbasaur, Hero's Cape, 1 Jacq, and 2 Professor's Research were cut. They've been replaced with 1 Toedscruel ex, 2 Dawn, Max Rod, Regigigas (PRE), Genesect (Phantasmal Flames), and 2 more Basic Grass Energies. Also, the Boss's Orders card was changed from Paldea Evolved to Mega Evolution Base's version for easier importing.

Hello everyone, I know it's been a bit of time since I've last posted a deck, but thank you all for your support, I greatly appreciate you all! Also, I apologize if the description seems rushed or not too descriptive, I originally had a much more descriptive description, but the website refreshed itself and removed the entire description before I could submit it. I hope you all have a good day!

maybe copies of Quickball for faster setup and maybe more copies of grass energy or double colorless energy. I mean 32 trainer cards is a lot.

LimeLemon avatar

Lewis chai What do you mean add Quick Ball or Double Colorless Energy? This is a standard deck, not expanded. Trainer Cards are really important for every deck, most of them commonly have around 30 or more. Thank you for your feedback though, and I hope you have a good day!

You inspired me to build a Mega Venusaur deck. It's not yet released

LimeLemon avatar

Pe7son Glad I could inspire you to build a Mega Venusaur ex deck! I hope you have a good day!

bcuz only mew and fez don't work with poffin, so 4 nest balls doesn't give as much value as 2 Buddy-Buddy Poffin (Temporal Forces)  and 2 Nest Ball (Scarlet & Violet)

The deck has finally been updated!

Nitrogen7776 This deck is pretty outdated from my current build that I plan to update it to soon, but which Toedscruel are you referring to? Anyways, thank you for your feedback, I hope you have a good day!

Pe7son avatar

Maybe this should play Gigas?
