SGLC (Semi or Sorta Gym Leader Challenge) is a Singleton format, no Rule box Pokémon, and cards after Sun & Moon can be used for this format as well. SGLC doesn't have type restrictions like GLC, so using mix types is encouraged to cover weaknesses. (Also a much more affordable way to play)

This deck revolves around the Water and Fighting energies. It is a Mudfish/Water Reptilian themed deck. Swampert is the engine of this deck being flexible in attaching either type to your Pokémon.

It's Earthquake attack does a big 180 damage that knocks out 95% of the format with the drawback of doing damage to your bench. Earthquake is also on Whiscash and Donphan that all do 20 damage to the bench. Damage on the bench is typically a drawback except for 2 basics Throh and Drampa that use it to fuel their 2 energy attacks. Throh can deal out 120 damage, while Drampa can do a whopping 160 damage with damaged bench Pokémon. These Pokémon can either be great mid-game or late game after your team has taken a few hits.

Damage Pump can distribute damage to your bench should Throh or Drampa be damaged in the active slot before any of your other Pokémon have a chance to. These cards are difficult to find which is why Drizzile and Inteleon are here to aid in finding the Trainer cards that you'll need. Shady Dealings needs no introduction and offers great support to the entire team. Terrakion serves as another strong basic that can either stall your opponent's weaker Pokémon with Guard Press or do big 160 damage with Earthen Power should you find any 1 of your 4 Stadium cards. Skater's Park is great in a pinch to retain energy should you not find a Trainer card and need to retreat. Lake Acuity provides 20 damage resistance should they have either Water or Fighting energy attached and Crabominable's Solid Shell adds another 30 damage resistance to itself on top of that. It can also do 160 damage should it also have a Water energy attached to it. Martial Arts Dojo provides a 40 damage boost should you be down Prize cards or 10 if you are tied/ahead in Prize cards. Lastly, Brooklet Hill allows you to grab any Basic Pokémon, except for Drampa, to include Gible. Ascension can be used to get Gabite up and running ready to attack in preparation for finding Garchomp. Garchomp's ability Sonic Slip does not get seen often, but when it does it can close out the game with it's powerful Dragonblade attack.

Pros: There are a lot of cards that support Water Energy and Fighting Energy. Lake Acuity and Brooklet Hill are the most obvious examples that compliment this deck perfectly. This deck strong basic attackers like Drampa and Throh which if built up turn 2 or 3 can devastate the opponent to a point of no return. The Inteleon draw engine is one of the best in the format being able to grab any Trainer.

Cons: Having two different Energy types can cause issues especially if you don't have the correct combination on the Active Pokémon. Luckily, any Pokémon that Water Energy requirements only need 1. Whiscash, Crabominable, and Terrakion require 2 Fighting Energy, which is why there are more Fighting Energy in the deck.
