A fun deck that uses Spidops ex (Scarlet & Violet) ability to aggressively add retreat cost, and simultaneously increase attack damage (based on opponent's Active retreat cost).

Use Grotle (Brilliant Stars) as a Pokemon search engine, letting you on each turn search your deck for a Tarountula (Paldea Evolved) or a Spidops ex. A fun deck that uses Spidops ex (Scarlet & Violet) ability to aggressively add retreat cost, and simultaneously increase attack damage (based on opponent's Active retreat cost).

Use Grotle (Brilliant Stars) as a Pokemon search engine, letting you on each turn search your deck for a Tarountula (Paldea Evolved) or a Spidops ex. Grotle's ability stacks as well, so if you have two on field, you can stack your bench quickly. I use a Nest Ball (Scarlet & Violet) early to find Turtwig (Brilliant Stars) and get this engine running. Pidgey (151), Pidgeot ex (Obsidian Flames), and Rare Candy (Scarlet & Violet) as a perfect search engine, but hard to get sometimes ( Arven (Scarlet & Violet) to help find Rare Candies and Tool Jammer (Battle Styles) ) Tool Jammer is great to stop Bravery Charm and Future/Ancient Boost Energy Capsule.

Primary supporter and draw engine is Gardenia's Vigor (Astral Radiance) allows you to potentially add two additional grass energy from hand to benched Pokemon. Great to use Earthen Vessel (Paradox Rift) BEFORE using Gardenia's Vigor so that you can immediately attach the two energy you just took from deck.

Calamitous Wasteland (Paldea Evolved) adds an additional retreat cost to all NON-fighting type Pokemon, applies to most decks in the meta right now. Having this in play adds another 30 damage to Spidops' attack.

Lucky Energy (Chilling Reign) is a great special energy to help as a draw engine when taking damage.

Ideal full in-play looks like: (4) Spidops ex, (1) Grotle, (1) Pidgeot ex

It's really interesting, but how do you get to evolve pidgey with no pidgeotto?

ElectaBud93 you use the Rare Candy item on Pidgey -- it lets you skip the Stage 1 Pokémon and go straight to Stage 2!

Just one problem if anyone uses a card like Aerodactyl from 151 set or Technical Machine Devolution your pidgeot goes back into the hand if you have no pidgeotto's. And there arent any good item recovery cards for cards like rare candy.

 

Roseanne shuffles cards into the deck Cyllene requires a 2 coin flip for recovering any 2 cards "and places them on top of your deck"
