Controlling what's on top of a deck (tutoring) has a lot of options if it's the players deck. Switching Cups (Evolving Skies) let's you swap an energy from hand with top deck. Expedition Uniform (Chilling Reign) let's you move energy from the bottom of your deck to top, and you can (semi-)reliably put energy on the bottom with Skwovet (Scarlet & Violet) Nest Stash or Iono (Paldea Evolved). These let you do 150dmg pretty consistently (about 6 times with cards in this deck).

Tutoring energies onto your opponent's deck is slightly harder. Team Star Grunt (Scarlet & Violet) is the only one I know of.

These are limited resources, and sometimes you or your opponent might have an energy on top already. Knowing what's on top helps decide whether you need to tutor an energy. That's possible with Malamar (Obsidian Flames) Psychic Insight ability.

Playing this deck, it's not competitive, but I think for reasons other than the damage output. In my play, energy acceleration is hard, and Camerupt is too fragile. So you lose it quickly even though it's usually not OHKOing pokemon V, and it's hard to ramp up another one in time to sweep.
