Deck Primer

This build is specifically for the current Pokemon TCG Live (Beta) Expanded Format - May 2026

This is the leanest-and-meanest version of this deck for the current TCGL (Beta) Expanded Format. I have tried other versions of this deck that had the Seviper w/ More Poison ability and Binding Mochi tools, but those were cut to improve the deck's consistency. This deck is still very disruptive without those two cards. Poison can consistently KO during the Pokemon Checkup phases.

Going second is preferred.

This will help you set up your bench more consistently.

*** First Turn: Prep the bench. Hit for Poison. All in the same turn! ***

Pokemon Search

Use Battle VIP Passes, Quick Balls, Hisuian Heavy Ball, and Squawkability ex (or Dedenne-GX) to get the following Pokemon in play during your first turn: Squawkability ex, Brute Bonnet, Hisuian Zoroark V, 2 Pecharunts, and Muk & Alolan Muk-GX.

In most matches, you will need to use Squawkability ex's (or Dedenne-GX's) ability to set up your bench. If your Squawkabilitiy ex is prized, then, get Dedenne-GX instead to help set up. Ideally, you only play one of these two, and not both, during the match.

Supporter for Turn - Arven

If you go second, then, your preferred supporter card to use for the turn is Arven - not Carmine. If you have to, use Squawkability ex's (or Dedenne-GX's) ability to discard away a Carmine.

Arven is prefered since it will guarantee you can find a Battle VIP Pass and Ancient Booster Energy during your first turn.

The Hit & Run Combo

Activate Brute Bonnet's ability on your active Hisuian Zoroark V.

Hisuian Zoroark V

Then, attack with Hisuian Zoroark V's Void Return and switch it with a Pecharunt for extra poison damage during the Pokemon Checkup phase.

Pecharunt

*** Second Turn (and onwards): Keep doing the combo. Prep the Muk. ***

While you switch back-and-forth from Hisuian Zoroark V to Pecharunt, build up the energies on your Muk & Alolan Muk-GX. You want to attach enough energies to Muk & Alolan Muk-GX so that you can use its Nasty Goo Mix GX attack on one of your opponent's big Pokemon.

Muk & Alolan Muk-GX

If you have Radiant Hisuian Sneasler and Perilous Jungle stadium in play, you can do up to 19 poison damage during the first Pokemon Checkup phase with Nasty Goo Mix GX.

Radiant Hisuian Sneasler

*** Miscellaneous Tips ***

Shuckle-GX - Do not expect to put this Pokemon in play during every match. This is a very situational card. This works well against decks that have lower-energy cost attackers - like Gholdengo ex.

Bravery Charm - Ideally, Bravery Charm tool is attached to Muk & Alolan Muk-GX.

Megaton Blower - Megaton Blower Ace Spec is one of the preferred Ace Specs to use with this deck since it can remove special energies and tools that protect your opponent's Pokemon from Special Conditions.

Pecharunt, Radiant Hisuian Sneasler, and Fezandipiti ex - Do not overlook their potential to be active attackers - especially Pecharunt. Pecharunt's attack prevents your opponent's Pokemon from retreating.

While on the subject of Pecharunt, do not miss out on opportunities to do extra poison damage - even if your active Pokemon gets knocked out. If your opponent's active Pokemon is still poisoned after it knocks out your active Pecharunt (or another of your Pokemon), just promote your benched Pecharunt to keep doing extra poison damage.

Hisuian Zoroark V's Shadow Cyclone Attack - Hisuian Zoroark V's second attack does 130 damage and it can move an energy from itself to one of your benched Pokemon. Consider moving a Psychic energy or a Double Colorless energy from Hisuian Zoroark V to Muk & Alolan Muk-GX.

Consider thinning the deck for the late-game - There may come a point where you have all that you need already in play. If you don't have anything useful in hand, consider discarding with Carmine or Professor's Research. This will help protect you from hand disruption that might take place in the late-game. This can help you find more useful cards when you need them - like Guzma, Penny, Megaton Blower Ace Spec, or Switch Cart.
