Surprisingly, Magma Basin and Arceus were released at the same time but hardly anyone plays them together (other than the Rayquaza variants that pop up every once in a while). I guess Path to the Peak has always been preferred since Arceus really capitalizes on its consistency setting up ability lock with Path and then disrupting their hand with Judge/Iono. However, Magma Basins comes with its benefits. While you lose out on disrupting your opponent, you gain a huge toolbox of potential attackers that help out in certain matchups. You get access to Heatran Vmax (one of the only Vmaxes Surviving Rotation) that tanks and heals against certain decks. You get Delphox V with can bench snipe and even out the prize trade against single prize decks. Radiant Charizard for a 250 damage single prize finisher. There's some really good potential in this core of cards for those willing to test it out.
