Silvally is my favourite Pokemon of all time. A while back, I made a deck about it, and I decided to redo it for fun! Just a disclaimer, this deck is currently untested and I would GREATLY appreciate some feedback! While crafting it, the whole thing kind of felt jumbled and I can immediatley see consistency issues. So, if anyone can help me improve this without completely gutting the concept, I'd love that!

Anyways, my first version used Kabutops (151) to increase the opponent's weakness to 4x, since 200 damage for 2 energy is great, especially when it can be increased to 480 when you played a supporter on that same turn. The issue with Kabutops is that it's a stage 2 that evolves from a fossil, making it a HUGE pain to set up. So for this one, I've opted to experiment with the Lake Trio Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit to do the same. It also comes with the benefit of removing your own weaknesses, but that's not the main draw here. They can be set up with Buddy-Buddy Poffin, so it shouldn't be as hard to get them all out at once. On the topic of BBP, Ditto Prism is here because it can evolve into Silvally-GX and is a viable target for that card, as Type: Null having 100 HP is a bit awkward.

Since this deck requires having so many pokemon in play to function, bench space is a major issue. To resolve that, Sky Field is my Stadium of choice. It allows this deck to have way more pokemon in play, and make space for the Expanded format staples Tapu Lele-GX and Dedenne-GX. If the stadium gets removed and you need to discard Pokemon, always discard Dede and Lele before the others since they're 2-prize loose ends with dead abilities.

Onto the main attacker itself, Silvally-GX serves as its own draw engine which is very nice considering this deck suffers from a space issue. It can change its type using the Memory tool cards this deck is running to match the opponent's weakness. If you're wondering why I'm not using all six different types of memeories here, the four I have seem to be the most common weaknesses in the format at the moment. If you're facing against Regidrago, then... cry I guess. With that being said, Lillie's Celfairy ex that's coming out next year can prove to be useful if that's the case.

If you're playing against a deck which you can't hit for weakness, the best type you can use is the Fighting type because of the support it has through Grant to boost damage, and Stone Fighting Energy to giove you some extra bulk (if you're wondering why I'm, not using Powerful Colorless Energy (Darkness Ablaze) Silvally-GX changes its type). Grant also has the abilty to recover itself from the discard pile without the use of VS Seeker, allowing you to swing for the maximum potential damage every turn. The cards you need to discard are negligable as well, since Silvally-GX can redraw you those cards with ease.

Silvally-GX's main weakness easily has to be its laughable bulk. 210 HP on a 2-prize stage 1 is pathetic. That's why I went with Stone Fighting Energy to hopefully make it survive a bit longer, and went with Legacy Energy as my ACE SPEC to not have to fork over as many prize cards. Again, Life Dew (Plasma Freeze) may seem like the clearly better option on paper since it can be used more than once per game, but because it's a tool card, it can't be stacked with any of the memories. If it doesn't turn out though, I'd resort to using the classic Computer Search (Boundaries Crossed) as the ACE SPEC due to the sheer consistency it provides.

EDITS:

Replaced one CEC Silvally with UPR, as its ability turns all of my basics into pivot options without needing Float Stone, and doesn't need a supporter to be played to hit for 120. Its GX attack also benefits from the opponent having access to Sky Field, but I wouldn't rely on it.

Added Lana's Fishing Rod for item-based Pokemon + Tool recovery.

Replaced Quick Balls for more Buddy-Buddy Poffins and Ultra Balls.

Added Hisuian Heavy Ball so you don't get stuck as often with unfortuunate prizes

Added Clefable ex as a stand-in for Lillie's Clefairy ex along with Psychic Memories. (For those unaware, Lillie's Clefairy makes all of your opponents's dragon Pokemon weak to psychic, which is essential for this decks strategy. You could also theoretically attack with it since it has synergy with Sky Field, but it would need to have Legacy Energy attached).

Enhanced the Battle Compressor Engine and made overall refinements.

Anyways, please do comment on what you think this deck needs to be improved, because I feel it will need it for such a rough draft here. Enjoy!

Thats so cool ur using the trio strat with Silvally too! 🥰

Also ur absolutely right about the main weakness thing too. I eventually figured that <280 HP double prizers just fall to other expanded decks nearly regardless to how much damage you can deal.

Lana's Fishing Rod (Cosmic Eclipse) should be a consideration considering its probably the most efficient tool recovery out there.

I get what ur tryin to do with grant, but overall its either overkill or useless. Silvally already does 400+ damage with the buffs and a petty 120 damage without, and adding to 150 dmg doesn't help too much. Supereffective glasses fulfills the same purpose but does it better.

Rly cool strat, I totally forgot Silvally GX had a mechanic similar to Kecleon's 💯

Siegislash I agree with everything except for Supereffective Glasses, cince those don't work in this deck for obvious reasons...

CountyGibbon798 avatar

I forgot to mention as well that Grant can be used even when not using the Fighting Memory, since you can get it out of the discard pile incredibly easily and always have a supporter to play each turn for the 70 damage boost on Silvally's attack, even if the actual effect of Grant happens to do nothing.

Siegislash avatar

Glasses was honestly me being stupid and also I totally forgot Silvally had a limitation that it basically only worked if you played a supporter, and in that sense ur definitely right, grant does actually hold its weight as a spot in ur deck.

CountyGibbon798 avatar

Siegislash Yeah, Grant I find to be really underrated in the fact that it's a remote 2-card discard for decks like Regidrago or Lugia, or any other discard-focus deck. Sure, Battle Compressor can do that from the deck, but it's a lot more complicated when you need to empty your hand. In this deck's case, I'm using it for the fact that you get the supporter back whenever you want to buff your damage by 70, 100 if you're using a Fighting Memory!

Anyways, with the release of Stellar Crown and Surging Sparks coming up, I'll probably make yet another version to this until I perfect the formula. I'll also make some other meta expanded decks to see how this one can compare.

Siegislash avatar

mhm yeah I'd love to see some more of ur expanded decks!

Also just curious, I'm not saying this doesn't work, but why did you choose to make this deck a battle compressor engine instead of traditional draw? at least I don't see any synergy with your key strategy? well, maybe grant ig but is that isn't rly enough.

Siegislash Batte compressor is just really good at removing bricks from the deck. If I'm not facing a water or fire-weak deck, I'd take them out of the deck as soon as possible so I don't need to draw into them anymore and waste turns. Since Silvally locks you to a 5-card max hand, every extra card you can draw in a turn is important.

Siegislash avatar

Fair enough. you do have a lot of bricks, and like you said in the description, even then, its still kinda clunky. But then again, the sad truth is gimmicky decks like these only work in theory but fall short in practice anyways. 😞

Honestly decks like these are just so inconsistent that it doesn't even take a meta deck to take it down, same goes for Kecleon.

CountyGibbon798 avatar

Siegislash I'll stop at nothing to make my favourite Pokemon usable, so this is just another step in the process.

CountyGibbon798 avatar

Battle Compressor I might as well ping you here for some feedback.

Ye I agree with Siegislash on Lana's fishing rod, you honestly kinda need it, Roseanne backup is a kind of a shitty card only used in standard since you have other options(the only benefits are stadium and energy recovery but both are nearly uneeded). lana rod's recovery of a pokemon is also good for clefairy in the case that regidrago mains gust it.

Its already mentioned but imma mention it again. Your deck is inconsistent, and my suggestions to improve it include:

- more of me(not biased, trust). in addition to stretcher, you also have seeker and lots of fodder, all could benefit from a third copy of me.

- more Silvally search capability, currently ur only option is compressor + stretcher which kinda sucks ass for consistency especially you need it as a draw engine.

- 2 guzma is excessive for a "compressor engine". with enough copies of me, another vs seeker is its equivalent + versatility.

- 2 special charge? how many silvally can even die before you lose?

Sorry if my suggestions sound a little hostile its just how I talk irl when giving suggestions to friends. Hope this is helpful

Battle Compressor Thanks for the advice! I made all of the changes you suggested, and it is looking like a tigher package at the moment. Clefairy isn't out yet, so it's not in the deck. When it does release, I'll be probably reworking a good protion of the deck to begin with to include Psychic Memory (Crimson Invasion) on top of things. With that being siad, I believe it will be a near auto-include because of how common Regidrago and Lugia Dragon Box are.

Also, I don't mind the harsher sounding criticism because I can tell it's done with good intent. Thanks!

Battle Compressor avatar

yeah, glad I could help! and gl with making this deck better.

Battle Compressor It will certainly be a LONG journey to get it to near the same standards of the competitive expanded decks, if it's even possible to begin with.
