This is an extremely well-written and detailed article by Chris Fulop. Personally, spread or box malamar are the best variants for an open meta and chimecho heavy variants are better for metas where you know there is a lot of zororoc and zoredecitales especially with no GRI Alolan Ninetales gx and Yveltal GX. Ultra Necrozma spread versions play like a traditional box malamar with Ultra Necrozma's GX attack as a finisher. Marshadow GX should be considered as a tech attacker in zoroark heavy metas. From my experience, malamar lists can play into stall especially really well because of their reliability on strong board setup. Escape board should be considered for those control and heavy stall metas in place of choice bands because they can single handidly break most stall setups. Malamar is very flexible with deck building, but taking note of these key stone lists is important to understand why the deck is so great.
