The strategy is simple: get as many basic energy cards as you can into your discard pile as quickly as possible, and attack with Simisear Vstar as quickly as possible. You want to go first and start with any card in the active spot (ideally Entei V) and at least one Simisear V on the bench. On your first turn your goal is to place at least one energy onto your Simisear V, have a Smisear Vstar in hand, play a Magma Basin stadium card, and discard as many energy cards as you can. I can't stress enough how important it is to discard energy right way. Your second turn you want to evolve the Simisear V on your bench into Simisear Vstar and get 3 energies attached to it by the end of your second turn. If you can move it from the bench to the active spot and start attacking your second turn, that's the best start you can get.

Each turn you want to get several basic energies into the discard pile and you have many ways to do that:

• first turn use Squawkabilly's ability to discard your hand and draw more cards

• use Radiant Greninja to discard an energy and draw cards

• use Kindler to discard an energy and get cards

• use Earthen Vessel to discard an energy (and acquire more energy to later discard)

• use Trekking Shoes to find and discard energy

• use Ultra Balls to discard energy

• use Cycling Road to discard energy

• retreat the active pokemon to discard energy

• use Professor's Research to discard your hand.

Once you get 10+ energy in the discard pile you can do 300+ plus damage with Simisear's Vstar power, which you won't use until late in the match.

There is a lot of energy in this deck because this deck uses an energy-driven draw engine via Radiant Greninja, Earthen Vessel, Trekking Shoes, and Cycling Road (and Entei helps with drawing cards too). When you play this deck you will be drawing energy cards and discarding energy cards, ideally every turn.  EDIT MARCH 9: Replaced Roark with a Lady supporter to help get a lot of energy out of the deck and into your hand so you can fuel your draw engine.

The main weakness of this deck is not so much that Simisear Vstar's Fireball Fever only does 240 damage, but that Simisear Vstar is your only big attacker (though Entei V isn't bad), your primary pokemon are weak to water type decks, which can usually accelerate energy much faster too.

Suggestions for improvements welcome!

EDIT NOVEMBER 6: Added two Earthen Vessels and removed Iono and Arcanine (rarely useful)

EDIT NOVEMBER 13: Added some new paradox rift and 151 cards to improve this deck. The Moltres and Iron Moth provide some additional fire power. Added back one Iono. The Magby seem really useful - an easy way to do 60 damage and only sacrifice one prize card.

EDIT NOVEMBER 20: Added another Entei V and scrapped the Iron Moth. Added an Irida and dropped one Professor's Research. The Irida is useful for getting Radiant Greninja or Luimineon V as well as an item card.

EDIT JANUARY 30: eliminating all the 'E' regulation cards in this deck to keep it legal for standard play. Added Professor Turo's Scenario. Dropped Raihan. Dropped the Battle VIP Passes and added 2 more Nest Balls. Dropped Escape Rope. Added Counter Catcher. Dropped the Iono (again!). Added a Roark.

EDIT MARCH 31: Added Hero's Cape. Deleted one Magby.

I don't think Simisear has enough damage output to be considered a serious deck, though as a silly deck it seems fun. Iunno what Arcanine is doing here, I would prolly run it with a Kirlia (Silver Tempest) engine for more discards per turn. Volcarona V would also make a great backup attacker, picking up KOs in the late game whilst making sure you don't deck out with Simisear's attack. I'd probably build the deck something like this:

Pokémon: 8
3 Simisear V BRS 27
3 Simisear VSTAR CRZ 23
1 Radiant Greninja ASR 46
2 Volcarona V EVS 21
3 Ralts ASR 60
3 Kirlia SIT 68
1 Gallade ASR 62
1 Squawkabilly ex PAL 169

Trainer: 11
2 Super Rod PAL 188
4 Professor's Research SVI 189
4 Nest Ball SVI 181
3 Magma Basin BRS 144
4 Ultra Ball SVI 196
1 Hisuian Heavy Ball ASR 146
3 Iono PAL 185
2 Boss's Orders PAL 172
4 Trekking Shoes ASR 156
1 Escape Rope BST 125
1 Switch SVI 194

Energy: 14
14 Basic {R} Energy Energy 19

Total Cards: 60

I appreciate your comments and alternative build. However, I don't think the discard engine needs Kirlia. It's powerful as it is. I've also tried Volcarona V in the deck. I didn't think it helped much, but you certainly could add that one. It's not a silly deck. It's fun to play and surprisingly effective and consistent. I know the reputation of Simisear decks is that they are silly and lack damage output, as you say, but in my experience this one performs well.

The Growlithes and Arcanine are in the deck to have some 1-prize pokemon to sacrifice when necessary in order to survive another turn to charge up a Simisear V/Vstar.
