This deck leverages an interesting crossover card of Dark Scizor that's the only Metal-Type pokemon with Dark in their name in the Base-Neo format. Having these two properties means you can attach Special Metal AND Special Darkness energies to it, gain the benefit from both, and neither of the drawbacks.

This means you could hypothetically (this is ridiculous I know, but) attach all 4x Steel and all 4x Darkness to a single Dark Scizor, and be dealing repeated 70dmg Slash attacks every turn, taking

This means you could hypothetically (this is ridiculous I know, but) attach all 4x Steel and all 4x Darkness to a single Dark Scizor, and be dealing repeated 70dmg Slash attacks every turn, taking -40 reduced flat damage from every incoming attack, and have 90hp max with a Rocket's Hideout Stadium active.

Obviously that's incredibly unlikely to happen, but that's the general idea is to pick one and start stacking Special Energies on it ASAP to get serious value out of it and just hope your opponent doesn't have a Light Golduck ;)

The Gastly is to recover some Special Energies you may have lost earlier in the game with Energy Conversion to get them back into your hand immediately and consistently, unlike Energy Charge which is a coinflip and they go into your deck.
