Galvantula ex deck – basic strategy

Unlike the Terapagos ex deck that you get to start your journey with, Galvantula ex is not a basic Pokemon. It’s a Stage 1, meaning you’re going to have to put a good deal more effort into how you set your board up to ensure you have a successful game.

Galvantula ex deck – basic strategy

Unlike the Terapagos ex deck that you get to start your journey with, Galvantula ex is not a basic Pokemon. It’s a Stage 1, meaning you’re going to have to put a good deal more effort into how you set your board up to ensure you have a successful game. 

The nice thing is, unlike the basic Battle Pass deck, Galvantula ex comes in a more fully upgraded version. The key strategy here is to set up as quickly as you can, and then freeze your opponent out of using items via Galvantula ex’s Fulgurite attack.

In order to do this, however, you need to evolve Galvantula ex into play. To help get your board properly set up, you have four Buddy-Buddy Poffins, making it easy to get your Joltik’s into play.

Breaking down Galvantula ex

Galvantula ex is (of course) this deck’s main attacker. Charged Web is a solid attack, enabling you to take KOs against many basic Pokemon V and ex to get ahead in the prize race. Meanwhile, it’s the powerful Fulgurite attack that many will be focusing on. This attack locks your opponent out of playing items in their next turn – a near lethal side effect in some situations.

Run the Stellar Crown Joltik

This deck is a lot stronger than it otherwise would be because of the four copies of Joltik released in Stellar Crown. Joltik gives you access to a phenomenal first turn attack that will quickly and easily accelerate energies onto your Pokemon. Although the basic version of this deck comes with four Joltik’s, you can also unlock this really cool Illustration artwork to include.

Galvantula ex Battle Pass Deck upgrade guide

Below, let’s look at some easy ways to upgrade the Galvantula ex premium pass deck. While the deck strategy the basic Battle Pass deck comes with revolves around using Gargancl as an energy acceleration tool for Galvantula ex, there are easier and better ways to build this deck to achieve the same strategy. 

Use Sandy Shocks instead of Gargancl

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about evolving Gargancl as getting a stage two into play is a lot of work if it can be at all avoided. Instead, I would focus on getting your Galvantula ex ready to attack with its Charged Web attack early on. This should be enough to knock out most single prize Pokemon you will face, as well as taking KOs against two prize Pokemon like Roaring Moon ex or Chien-Pao ex.

Once one of your Galvantula ex have been knocked out, Sandy Shocks ex can start accelerating energies. Include some Energy Switches in your deck to easily pass those energies over to your Galvantula ex to get your item lock attack moving. Although Blissey can achieve this as well, but just in case you don’t manage to evolve her the energy switches can help.

Use Blissey ex plus Glass Trumpet

Another great way to ensure you get the energies you need to start using Fulgirite and cancel out items is to run Blissey ex and Glass Trumpet. Being a Stage 1, Blissey ex is much easier to evolve than a Gargancl, plus it has a a built in energy switch ability that can help you quickly and effectively move energies around from your supporting Pokemon onto your Galvantula ex. 

Because Blissey ex is a normal type Pokemon, you can easily accelerate any energy you want onto it via the powerful Glass Trumpet.

Both Blissey ex and Glass Trumpet are unlockable in the game so all you have to do is climb your way through the ranks to unlock these powerful combos! Of course, you can also just craft them assuming you have the goods!

ACE SPEC Choice: Sparkling Crystal

Last but not least, Sparkling Crystal is a must in this deck. It makes getting your attacks off much, much easier, and that’s especially true of Fulgarite.

Noctowl can work in this deck

The basic version of this deck runs a two-two Bibarel line that can be great to help keep your hand restocked. However, you can try using Noctowl instead. Noctowl gives you a powerful searching ability to bring any two trainers to your deck. While the Bibarel line certainly works, you could find this is even more helpful to find exactly what you need when you need it most.
