Every time I see Tinkatex on here, I gottta ask - how do you play this deck? It's my favorite ex, but I can't seem to make it work.
patrickhays2
Tinkaton for me is usually always hit or miss either I get a good start and setup fast also keeping dudunsparce on the bench incase I get hit with iono later or my opponent sets up faster starts taking out my tinkatinks like nothing potentially even with iron hands or multiple with greninja or dragapult and I lose quickly.
I feel like the biggest thing you need to learn and know with any Tinkaton Ex deck is to check your whole deck for what is prized and whats in it whenever you grab from deck the information about the rest of the deck is quite important.
I also feel like with Iono (Paldea Evolved) Judge (Scarlet & Violet) Lucian (Twilight Masquerade) Roxanne (Astral Radiance) around you really need to either get a single prize tinkaton or keep a dudunsparce on bench to not get into trouble.
I played quite a few different iterations of tinkaton ex with xatu fueled drawing, dudunsparce fueled drawing, nemona etc. This deck looks decent enough, but I usually prefer running a mix of xatu dudunsparce for drawing so I could draw 4 cards from my discard using tulip and potentially more with a xatu on the field as well as setup tinkaton with psychic and jet energies.
Problematic matchups are pretty much steel attack based because weakness or multihit decks like lost box esp. the new dragapult ex with lost box engine is big sad to see.
Back when Milotic (Evolving Skies) was still in standard I also used that to prevent Iono etc. it was fun to see my opponent Iono with only Iono in hand and stay at 0 cards because neither player had cards to shuffle into the deck even when they were sitting and 5-6 prizes.
grandmagusta5258 - I've created a number of Tinkaton decks:

When they work, they really work. Splitting the balance between the Tinkatons is difficult. I feel like I'm missing a connection somewhere. The PAF Tinkatuff/Tinkaton take advantage of Metal Energy, which had me trying to design a Gholdengo/Tinkaton deck for a while. I really enjoy the concept, but I feel like it's easily Judged/Iono'd/Roxanned.
I've had a lot of success with the Dundunsparce rotation and Namona stacking. Now I'm toying with "free" four-draw Support (Falkner, Norman, etc); flip the concept on it's head and go heavy on Falkners and Stadiums?
But yeah - still trying to find that magic combo.
Agreed, it's hit or miss. I had a good winning streak both online and in person with this build pre-Masquerade.
There's been times I've recovered from a bad first hand, as long as opponent also has a bad start.
Main focus is to start first, with a Dunsparce in active if possible due to free retreat. I ALWAYS get Rotom V out with first turn. This ensures you can keep building your hand. Build up a Tinkaton ex while having Dunsparce either hold the line or evolve it to Run Away Draw.
If you can detect that the opp has a hand disrupter like Iono/Judge (most do), then leave Dundunsparce in play. Double Turbo Energy will require 12 cards in hand to knock out Charizard ex. As long as you got that, you can pretty much bonk anything.
As mentioned, the drawbacks now are Dragapult ex due to its bench snipe (although I did beat one opp in table top). And Scyther ex or Gholdengo ex due to weakness. But it is possible to win. Takes some practice and knowing what to do, when to do it.
I have seen some decks that stack Morty's Conviction. That triggers me. You're losing 2 cards to gain at most 5... the next pay out is 3. But as soon as their bench is not filled, that falls apart. Nemona and the other "draw 3"s are better and more consistent to rely on because you're constantly getting +2. I bumped in an extra Arezu because of the benefit of getting Dundunsparce more reliably.
Updated to what I have been currently playing IRL and on PTCG Live!
+ Added Manaphy to stall all the Rad Greninjas that are in everyone's deck.
+1 Mist to protect 1 from Dragapult ex.
+ Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex to try to win a late game Iono/Judge. The main thing to keep in mind is when you have 11/12+ cards in hand (hitting for 330/360 with Neo Upper, 310/340 with Double Turbo) is to start keeping Dundunsparce benched for hand disruptions.
+ added two Morty's Conviction as I was finding more people playing 4+ to the bench and to anticipate the new cards coming that will increase bench to 8!
+ Penny was added to eject Rotom V as it is sometimes picked on. Can also loop Ursaluna in to use attack twice in row.
[Professor Turo could be swapped out for Penny to return a weakened Tinkaton ex. (all pokemon go back in hand, so is a +1 or +2 to hand depending on how TT evolved.)]
- Ryme
- Capturing Aroma. It just wasn't as feel good as Great balls are. Too much RNG nightmares
- Psychic energy. Really... never used baby TT's attack unless I was behind in prizes and Reversal Energy takes care of that. (Really a bad game/hand if I am stuck doing that)
- 1 Arezu. Not as needed the later in the game it gets.
Fire list bro! As fellow Tinkaton ex player in both TEF and TWM, I can very much say your deck looks much better than mine. As some free advice though, I'd try taking out 2 of the mortys for another nemona and nemona's backpack since they seem to be more consistant. Cuz of mimikyu, maybe also take out heavy ball for a basic energy (energy for Tinkaton's second attack) or pal pad for extra boss. Capturing aroma might also be good instead of all the great balls for a tad more balance. Hopefully this was helpful.
Here's the link to my decklist if you wanna take a look. All feedback welcome
