The Gardevoir / Team Rocket Pump – Strategy Guide

The aim of this deck is simple but devastating:

  1. Get Gardevoir ex onto the bench as quickly as possible. This is your engine. Use Professor’s Research, Rare Candy, and discard outlets to dump a tonne of Psychic Energy into the discard pile.

  2. Get Wobbuffet into the Active Spot. It’s your stall wall, slowing the opponent while you set up.

  3. Bench Orbeetle and Mewtwo ex. Orbeetle is the “pump” and Mewtwo is your win condition.

  4. Load up Orbeetle with both damage and Psychic Energy. Let it soak up hits and channel energy.

  5. Transfer the damage (but not the energy!) to Mewtwo ex. This turns Mewtwo into a monstrous attacker while leaving Orbeetle stacked with energy.

  6. Heal (Nothing from) Orbeetle back to full using Super Potion, Hyper Potion, Max Potion, or Cheryl. You’ve now reset the pump and the energy goes back in the discard.

  7. If you’re feeling brave? Pump Orbeetle again and repeat the process—stack more energy, move more damage, heal again.

  8. Once you’ve gone through your resources, play Lysandre’s Trump Card to shuffle everything back in. Then… do it all over again.

The Loop

  • Cycle: Orbeetle pumps → Damage moves to Mewtwo → Return Orbeetle → Wobbufet Uses Rocket Mirror.

  • Refresh: Lysandre resets the entire combo.

  • Fuel: Gardevoir ex keeps the energy flowing from discard to board.

Win Condition

Overwhelm your opponent by repeatedly swinging with Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex, each time powered up by damage transfers, while Orbeetle soaks, heals, and resets endlessly.

If the loop goes uninterrupted, you essentially create an infinite cycle of pressure, with every Trump Card reset making your opponent feel like the game has just restarted—but with you always a step ahead.
