Torterra / Grass Box

I've been improving this Torterra ex (Temporal Forces) / Grass Box deck since the release of Temporal Forces on March 22. I tried a lot of different things and finally thought I built one fun and competitive way of playing with Torterra ex. Going First or Second?

Since it is a Stage 2 deck, going first is really good, but it could be complicated against Lost Box, Roaring Moon ex, and Future Box.

First

I've been improving this Torterra ex (Temporal Forces) / Grass Box deck since the release of Temporal Forces on March 22. I tried a lot of different things and finally thought I built one fun and competitive way of playing with Torterra ex. Going First or Second?

Since it is a Stage 2 deck, going first is really good, but it could be complicated against Lost Box, Roaring Moon ex, and Future Box.

First Setup:

The perfect setup for the first turn is 2x Turtwig (Temporal Forces) (1 as the active Pokemon in most cases) and 1x Hisuian Lilligant V (Astral Radiance). If possible 1x Wurmple would be great, but prioritize the Turtwigs and even more the Lilligant V. If you can energize in this first turn good, if you cant, don't worry.

Second Turn and Mid-Game:

The main goal in the second turn is to evolve Hisuian Lilligant V (Astral Radiance) to Hisuian Lilligant VSTAR (Astral Radiance) and use the VStar to get 2 more basic Pokemon, a Grotle (Brilliant Stars), and 2 grass energy.

Here we can just evolve both of our Turtwig (Temporal Forces) to Grotle (Brilliant Stars) and setup for the next turn, or, if you have rare candy or Arven (Scarlet & Violet) in hand, evolve the active Turtig to Torterra ex (Temporal Forces), energize with a singles grass energy and use "Forest March" to 180 damage.

It is very important to use all the Grotle (Brilliant Stars) abilities in the field every turn! Since this deck has so many Pokemon, putting them in your hand improves the ratio of draw trainer and energy cards. The only exception is when you have one or two Beautifly (Lost Origin) setup in the field, in this case, evaluate your ratios and play smart.

Use Beautifly (Lost Origin) to keep your hand with at least 6 cards every turn, Whimsicott (Temporal Forces) to heal your Torterra ex when/if needed and Rabsca (Temporal Forces) to avoid bench damage AND effects from threats like Radiant Greninja, Iron Thron's ex, etc.

Use Heavy Baton (Temporal Forces) in Torterra ex (Temporal Forces) or Torterra (Brilliant Stars) to help setup different attackers for different situations. After your first Torterra ex (Temporal Forces) is knocked out, you moslty will put another Torterra ex in play, but sometimes you can have a window to use Torterra (Brilliant Stars) and do up to 250 damage (mostly if it means you will get 2 prize cards) or Hisuian Lilligant VSTAR (Astral Radiance) to do 230 (which is great against Future Box). Gardenia's Vigor (Astral Radiance) is also great to help setup your bench Pokemons, especially Lilligant Vstar. Lost Vacuum (Lost Origin) is great in many situations, but I see its value mostly against Collapsed Stadium (Lugia VStar/Minccino) and Heavy Baton (Future Box). In using the Ace Spec Neo Upper Energy (Temporal Forces)which helps Torterra (Brilliant Stars) in the end game and Torterra ex (Temporal Forces) with Jungle Hammer (very situational), but I think Prime Catcher (Temporal Forces) is a better choice in general (unfortunately I'm playing this deck in person, and Prime Catcher is just too expensive for me to buy it right now). Use Mist Energy (Temporal Forces) against Roaring Moon ex and Giratina Vstar.

Late and End Game:

Try to always keep your bench full and, if possible, evolved in the late game, mostly because of Torterra (Brilliant Stars) and his Evopress, which can give you the win with 300 damage if switched to the active spot (with Switch (Black & White) or Jet Energy (Paldea Evolved)). 

Use Boss's Orders (Brilliant Stars) to knock out possible damaged two prize pokemon retreated to the bench (it happens a lot since your main attacker only does 180 damage) and Iono (Paldea Evolved) to disrupt your opponent's hands (even better if you have Beautifly (Lost Origin) setup, for a few extra cards with his ability).

Overall:

I've had so much fun with this deck and some decent wins. It is a great deck against Charizard ex (which has been very popular for some time now) and plays decent against most of the meta decks, but it struggles a bit against Chien-Pao and Future Box.
