Deck Primer

Scarlet & Violet sets only (G+) ☠ Poison based control deck based around Toxicroak (one of my favourite Pokemon).

Work in Progress. This is my first deck and very liable to change, so any and all advice is very welcome (explinations/reasonings would be appreciated!)

I'm not looking for a complete re-work, but pointers around trainer cards especially, would really help :)

Other Considerations:

Roark  -  PAR 173

Arven  -  SVI 166

Energy Search Pro  -  SSP 176

Here's some thing much more helpful for your deck since you have fighting creatures. Remove the Roarks, Gemstones and 2 sevipers

Add 2 Binding Mochi
2 Glimmora EX and 2 Glimmets
The Glimmora EX can lock your opponent into only having 3 on his bench and it also poisons enemies with it's attack for 2 stone energies.

Nocruor0 Really appreciate the tips! Thank you.

I actually had some Glimmora ex's but sub'd them for sableye. This is my first attempt at making a deck (alongside another pure fighting deck which is based around Glimmora ex and Grapploct). Would welcome advice on that deck too :)

Would you be able to explain the reasoning for what you suggested? The trainers were where I am most unsure. Why drop Roark and Gemstones in favour of Binding Mochi? Also why loose 2 Sevipers over sableye for example?

All advice to a newbie is appreciated!

gonnor Thanks! I'm very new to the TCG and wasn't aware of the existence of that card, I've added 2 for now. May add more soon.

Binding Mochi allows you to do 40 more damage but i forgot your deck is not the heavily reliant on that relies on posioning a Okidogi EX.
The Gemstones are actually bad since there are too many ways to circumvent it with cards like Turo's Scenario and Switch. While Gemstone just make it cost more energy.
I checked my knowledge more and forgot that Janine Secret Art is a absolute must....for Okidogi EX, and inmediately poisoning it. That way he doesn't need the first attack. It selects 2 darkness pokemon and for each you may search the deck 1 dark energy for each instead of only allowing a single energy per turn.
So removing Roark and the snakes to add the glimmet line and you can easily poison Okidogi as a tactic and at the same time keep poisoning enemies from you own attacks with a Glimmora EX and work up on powering up Okidogi. This works wonders for getting him up to speed...but try to not send him first so Okidogi doesn't lose health early.
Adding Radiant Hisuian Sneasler also increases bonus poison damage on your opponent by 20 if you remove one dark energy. It doesn't need to be on the attacking spot.
Glimmora EX is a good walling pokemon, at least early on while you set up a entire board for the first turns. Sevipers big weakness is that it needs 3 energies if you intend to use Venoshock.

The minutes for finishing edit ran out but this is the finalized version

I checked a few of my errors from before.  Binding Mochi allows you to do 40 more damage but i forgot your deck is not the heavily reliant on that relies on posioning a Okidogi EX.

This works wonders for getting him up to speed...but try to not send him first so Okidogi doesn't lose health early.

Like i said before Glimmora EX is a good walling pokemon and bench denial, at least early on while you set up a entire board for the first turns. Sevipers big weakness is that it needs 3 energies if you intend to use Venoshock. But Glimmora EX poison attacks and bench denial are up to you.

Alternatevily you can remove only Roark and the 2 Sevipers instead of all 4 of him and add 2 Buddy-Buddy Poffins to fill up your bench along with Janine.
