Turbo Gengar VMAX has been a force to be reckoned with in the last few weeks. With the reprinting of Dark Patch (Astral Radiance) the energy acceleration in this deck has gone from null to MACH JEBUS! (You see what I did there?)

Turbo Gengar VMAX has been a force to be reckoned with in the last few weeks. With the reprinting of Dark Patch (Astral Radiance) the energy acceleration in this deck has gone from null to MACH JEBUS! (You see what I did there?)

The card draw resources in this deck are sooooo strong! Access to Radiant Greninja (Astral Radiance) with 4 copies of Scoop Up Net (Rebel Clash) gives you the ability to draw several cards in a single turn. Allowing you to accelerate energy onto a Gengar very quickly. Another notable draw source is the new Trekking Shoes (Astral Radiance) card from Astral Radiance. This card will also allow you to discard energies in order to dark patch them onto a benched Gengar for acceleration. Also, note that we are running a few copies of Training Court (Rebel Clash) in order to get back our discarded energies.

Turbo Gengar VMAX's worst match ups in my opinion are single prize decks such as the new Regigigas deck from Astral Radiance. The reason being is that Gengar’s Fear and Panic ability does additional damage for all of your opponent’s Pokémon V in play. Given that the single prize decks don’t run any V Pokémon it kind of puts a damper on the aggressiveness of this deck. Addtionally, Gengar VMAX's G-MAX Swallow Up attack makes it to where that Gengar VMAX cannot attack the following turn, slowing the deck down unless you have a switch/retreat mechanic such as Hiding Darkness Energy (Darkness Ablaze)  and another Gengar ready to go.
