Deck Primer

Single Prize Wailord deck using the SIlver Tempest Waillord.

Really consistant. Takes around 3-4 turns though to really ramp up, which can put you behind for faster moving decks.
But, because this deck is single prize only, you dont get too behind too quickly and can come back fairly quickly if you get your setups in play.

In my example I used max rarity, thats why the price is 550. but if you use minimum rarity cards, this deck is really cheap.

Main way to play

- Prioritize getting squirtle on bench first turn.
- Get sobbles & drizzles down asap.
- Get wailmer down asap, but prioritize sobbles and squirtles first. Its ok to give an early prize (let them KO a sobble), to use bruno and to ensure your squirtle/wailmers are safe while building up.

- Use drizzle to get irida. Depending on hand, use irida to get blastoise rare candy. or intelion rare candy.
   - Rare candy to intelion is good synergy because it allows for you to get two trainers, which can really set off a trend of just getting whatever cards(including the blastoise/rare candy) you need and all of a sudden having a bench loaded with 2 wailords & 2 intels with necessary energy to attack.

- I dont typically attack with blastoise, sometimes its needed. There arent that many energy or energy recyclers in the deck, so you want to manage them well, and all though blastoise' attack seems like it would do good damage, wailord is way more consistent with damage output and also typically tanky enough to attack twice, whereas blastoise gets ko'd easily.
   - The optimal energy distribution most of the time is 2 wailords, 2 inteleons, and if you need to use recycler you use it for the third wailord or sometimes blastoise to close out the game.
- greninja is also a sleeper early game to add damage on vmax/vstar for the later KO with wailord.
- Most of the time you want V Guard on Wailord for the extra HP.
- Use the capture energys early to get out squirtle or wailmer typically. If you use blastoise' ability into them later game, then I typically attach them to inteleon and reserve the V Guards for waillord. If the V Guards have all been used, then add capture to waillord in order to activate its ability.

- you dont really want to discard too much (thats another reason I play bruno), but if necessary you can typically get rid of quick balls or another copy of pokemon that you dont need (like a second blastoise or third drizzle).

Summary:
- Waillord is your primary attacker so the priority is getting them beefed up as soon as possible
- In order to do that you need to get blastoise on the field as soon as possible to use its ability
- It is much easier to get blastoise and multiple wailord on the field when you have the drizzile/inteleon engine going.

P.S
I've played a lot of different variants and this one is the most consistent, but there are modifications you can make to make it more fun or to better suit your play style.

Examples:
- add powerful energy or choice belt for more power.
- adjust item cards. less quick balls as an example.
- replacing 1 or more bruno with a Profressors Research or Serena.
- experiment with Kingdra or Kingler V/Vmax. I've done this and it can be fun when you pull it off, but its less consistent.
- adding path stadium cards
- adding miltank for stalling

The biggest risk is if you prize two blastoise, makes powering up wailor very slow.

That sounds cool, a like playing the deck, but consistency was always a topic. What about a Guardevoir instead of Greninja? Is consistency broken again? Thanks for the long strategy walk through. I wish more decks provide these service. Thanks a lot.

How often can you realistically use Blastoise ability before he is knocked out or how realistic is it to set up him twice ?

Wailord is the main attacker here, so blastoise wouldn't be active. Of course, they could boss's orders, but overall I think this deck would work pretty well.

Marcopok78 when i played this deck (and I have played it alot) I rarely used blastoise' ability more then once.

Sometimes it happens. But the main goal here is to get multiple attackers beefed up with the use of one blastoise ability.

Within 2 turns you can apply a total of 8 energies(1 from hand each turn, and blastoises ability). which is enough to power up two wailords, or 1 wailord and 2 inteleons.

Gardi over Greninja could work. Tbh it seems counter intuitive, but I rarely used greninjas ability in the deck, it has signifcant draw and search already.

The attack is a sleeper, but if the math on gardi adds up, and it saves your mons an extra turn to attack or set up, that would be well worth it.

And thank you! I plan to do longer explanations with the decks that I make public as well.
