Thank you for all the friends you've helped me make along this year and a half journey through F rotation where you lost Snorlax , Bibarel , Rotom V and Forest Seal Stone which caused you to have some unhealthy rebounds such as Toedscruel ex and Mamoswine ex . Until the Pokemon Company directly spoke to you and gave you Hilda and Ignition Energy , whereas you learned from those rebounds how to shuffle faster due to Bug Catching Set . It was off to the races with Dudunsparce and the gods even blessed you with support through Battle Cage and Psyduck , though it doesn't affect your luck with 12 tails in a row being your longest streak. Lastly on the tail end, you learned the true value of Shaymin finally and going through bulk found your 3rd line to make the deck truly yours in Spidops and achieved your longest heads streak at a Cup of all places, with 12 heads in a row. Towards the end we even tried to learn how to prize check finally with Redeemable Ticket , however there will never be quite the feeling that can match Iono -ing your opponent down to 1 and dropping the Neutralization Zone for game.

You will be missed my partner, thank you very much for being the bridge into Play! Pokemon TCG. Thank you to all the friends and support I got on pokemoncard.io on suggestions. Through everyone's help we went through over 60 variations of this deck and ended on v6.1 as the list you see here. Thank you for making me the top Wugtrio Guide in the world, and I look forward to building the next rogue deck with you all - follow to watch that journey, cause as I write this, I have no idea what's going to feel as close as home, as Wugtrio Mill.

-Phillip Ta

Good Day,

My name is Phillip Ta, my locals in San Diego will tell you that it's the only deck they've seen me play. Occasionally win locals here in San Diego and sometimes top 3 in Challenges. With April 10, 2026 on the horizon for G block rotation, this deck retires so here's my final edit on it with a YouTube video for the playthrough as memory of all the friends I've made with this deck.

Pokemon Core

Wugtrio

"Undersea Tunnel" discards on average 3-6 cards per attack, you'll notice most of Pokemon is searching for 20 core cards from your deck to execute whatever box your combo is. Thus once you get to 10 heads (3 coin tosses per attack) you win. Thus the strategy we are utilizing is getting to 10 heads as fast as possible and that usually means by Turn 2 you're attacking. This core identity to my verison is probabaly what separates a control deck to an aggressive Wugtrio deck in terms of game pace.

Over time removing the control cards was the key, for examample Maractus which prevents retreat made you more of a Maractus deck. So prioritizing Wiglett  (1 active, 1 bench) faster works better than controling the board. Note if your oppoenent has spread, try to get 1 active, 2 bench ready to go.

It's a 3 Colorless Energy attack thus we only have Reversal Energy  and Ignition Energies to supplement that attack as effectively as possible. The added benefit is that Reversal Energy and Ignition Energy both work on Dudunsparce for some surprise damage (90 Land Crush) and Spidops 130 Hammer In which can hit for weakness on many targets as well as s Entangling Trap for those who only commit one attacker.

Undersea Tunnel aims to remove the following:
- Average Stadiums per deck: 2-3 (top decks on Limitless) to follow with Neutralization Zone
- Average Energy cards per deck: 9.5
- Probablity to mill at least 3 cards = 87.5%, 6 cards = 50% , 9 cards =12.5%

Wiglett

Of all the versions has been the most successful to me. It is an attack which lets you do one coin flip and on heads discard only 1 card from the top of your opponent's deck. The amount of games this has actually come up in a pinch is quite surprising, and is useful for when your oppoenent wants you to use all your Ignition Energy . You slap on a Reversal Energy on this Wiglett and use Dig A Little to force the knock out pressure. Additionally in a mirror match it is your win condition rather than commiting to Wugtrio .

Dunsparce & Dudunsparce

The 70HP variation with "Find A Friend" has the benefit of surviving Dragonpult ex's Phantom Dive effect of attack which places 6 damage counters on our bench in any way they like, so at 70HP it's pretty easy to evolve the Dunsparce into Dundunsparce and use Run Away Draw to take off the damage and shuffle it back into your deck.

"Find A Friend" is useful when you are bricked and it's easy to commit a Reversal Energy  in the early game if you are stuck, knowing you can "Find A Friend" a Dudunsparce and safely shuffle the Reversal Energy back into your deck as it shuffles all cards attached to the Dudunsparce as well. Some might argue for Drakloak however it is more prone to Boss's Orders .

If going against Froslass stop placing Wiglett and Wugtrio down around 2 prizes left and only use Dudunsparce & Dunsparce as your main attack engine and bench. Run Away Draw allows you to remove the damage counters and setup an engine of Dudunsparce until you win. Rationing your Reversal Energy and Ignition Energy for this pivot is vital along with keeping the a bench of Dunsparce to constantly evolve.

Side Deck

Here are cards I keep in my case and swap out before the tournament starts based on the crowd.

Shaymin : Has been useful with Battle Cage to cover all the spread bases. You can try to fit Psyduck  somewhere, usually play with the ratio of Night Stretcher  and Sacred Ash  for room.

Tarountula & Spidops : Been Having a lot of fun with these two. Tarountula has allowed me to use Counter Catcher without being behind on prize cards and Spidops punishes people who think they can only promote / rely on one Pokemon since we don't take KOs. The meta has been shifting to these Stage 2 beat sticks and Spidops punishes that, additionally it's our answer to one of our worst match ups which is Gardevoir ex. Remember that Entangling Trap is an "Effect of an Attack" so Team Rocket's Articuno and Mist Energy will prevent it on their Pokemon.

Erika's Invitation : People who know not to overbench to prevent your Counter Catcher , found it easier to pull off compared to Accompanying Flute .

Miriam : In lieu of Sacred Ash as Budew exists and Miriam offers card draw to help with being donked.

Xerosic's Machinations : Against people who are attempting to control you, uno reverse, but if they dont' know what you're playing they are less prone to Xerrosic.

Boss's Orders : In lieu of 1 Counter Catcher , useful if even on prize cards.

Stadiums Wars

Battle Cage with Shaymin appears to be a good mix with Psyduck as a nail in the coffin. Rotation seemed to create a niche for more damage spread and Battle Cage on anything other than the active is kinda whatever. The deck can struggle to setup in a 5 round tournament statiscally, 1 out of 5 will be one basic in the active and getting donked. Artazon is there to help those odds.

Jamming Tower : Back in due to an increased amount of Gholdengo ex  and Mega Lucario ex (Mega Evolution) decks cause they love running Air Balloon (Mega Evolution) . Mega Lopunny ex might be another reason coming up as well. Jamming tower is also mostly bait so they use up their stadiums for Neutralization Zone .

Neutralization Zone : Before I play it, try to generally look for 3 stadiums in their discard pile due to Undersea Tunnel or the fact that you're running a number of stadiums to fake out the stadium war. Sometimes pretending that you really need that Artazon out and your opponenet has a full bench already might get them to proactively replace it to be in the lead. However Neutralization Zone is a card that every oppoenent has to read at my locals whenever we battle, it's not a common Ace Spec people use.

Supporters

Hilda

Ah, the card that brought it all back from the Standard F rotation. Those were some dark times. This deck is actually fashioned to Turn 2 at the latest Hilda to get Undersea Tunnel online as fast a possible. I see Dawn being another potential however the energy search with the evolution Pokemon is too good of a combo. It's almost like someone at Nintendo loves Wugtrio, though I digress, the usage of Jacq and Salvatore was quite underwhelming to speed up this combo somehow during previous testing, Hilda 4x simply is too good for consistency with this specific agressive mill strategy.

Lillie's Determination

Took some things out to make the deck more consistent you can check the changelogs. It takes the form of Lillie's Determination as we never take prize cards typically and sometimes you can dead draw for a deck that's meant to produce Wugtrios each turn they knock out. As Budew grows in popularity I contemplate with the ratio of this card to get me out of the item locks.

Iono

Favorite line is to Iono them down to 1 prize card, followed by Neutralization Zone. Useful also when they use Fan Rotom and have Noctowls in their hand, follow up with the Iono and you place their combo at the bottom of their deck. Been using it more lately from 4 > 2 copies, using it more offensively for the down to 1 - drop Neutralization Zone. As what usually gets this deck is the lack of Precious Trolley .

Other Trainers

Buddy-Buddy Poffin / Poké Pad : The amount of item cards which find basic Pokemon in this deck is quite high hence why we don't run Precious Trolley to make room for Neutralization Zone. Though it's quite needed to run so many due to the need to wait a turn to evolve my Pokemon. Hence why you typically are flooding the board with basics ideally. You have a 1 in 5 game chance to get donked, so be weary as these are the only main search methods, hence the Artazon as well to get going.

Counter Catcher : Pretty staple card to stall your oppoenent out. Nice to use it with Spidops for their Stage 2 Pokemon and Entangling Web it away having them setup again after they used up their initial burst of cards.

Night Stretcher : If you want more deck slots for something you can experiment with the ratio between this, Sacred Ash and Miriam . Check the current deck list to see what is currently working for me.

Bonus Tips

1. Try to bench more than one Wiglett at a time vs spread decks so you have backup, getting setup again takes forever once you lose your tempo.

2. Save early Iono in favor of leaning on Hilda until they’ve taken prizes or you’ve milled key cards.

3. If you are struggling with the deck, first focus on getting at least 4–5 total Undersea Tunnels/Xerosic’s per game vs big EX/Stage 2 decks. Remember Pokemon is a combo based game hence why we have so much search. This year's game design has been around come back mechanics so discarding their combo pieces (especially in a stage 2 deck/big ex focused deck) will be your first goal. 4-5 Undersea Tunnels is a first small goal to mastering this deck.

4. Stat wise, 1 out of 5 games will lead to a donk - but if you can get out of that, once the deck gets going it's a hard engine to stop.

5. If they choose to go first and you have the option to safely only place out a card that isn't Wiglett, do it. The less information they have to setup around you, the better.

Similar to what i am playing right now, but 3-3 Drakloak evoline instead of Dudunsparce, it's more consistent i feel. And Handheld fan or Crushing Hammer would be a pretty good addition right now in this format.

phillipta avatar

wilsonhalim Hey Wilson~!

Tried out Drakloak a while back, but wouldn’t mind giving him another shot soon. I’ve tested with your list a couple of times and also FTW’s build, which has some similar ideas. For my brain at least, I’ve leaned toward Dudunsparce mainly because of the safety net it gives—avoiding decking out, having that flexibility to promote it and switch out, and just being able to draw into more cards to lean harder into a mill strategy rather than slipping into full control.

Crushing Hammer is cool, but honestly, it feels like a playstyle that would benefit a lot more from something like Acerola’s Mischief or when we get more oppressive control tools like Snorlax’s no-retreat lock. There’s definitely a point when I’m piloting your version or FTW’s where I ask myself—am I actually milling here or just playing a softer control list that other decks arguably do better?

Hammer, Eri, etc. are great, but sometimes feel like “win more” tools in a deck archetype that tends to be behind on board or tempo by design. That said, I’ll give Drakloak another try, though there is a worry that they pressure the bench, and still chip (looking at you Froslass (Twilight Masquerade)) while setting up leads to putting tools to prevent the prevention. Just don’t want to lose the deck’s skill expression by accidentally muting its own engine with too many disruptions too early.

wilsonhalim avatar

Hey man, yes, totally get your point, my version is somehow more of a control with Xerosic and all that, whereas yours are more of a consistency, which is purely for milling out as the main purpose, i guess both version will be great in it's own way! I will also try your version for sure!

wilsonhalim

Hey man, appreciate the perspective—and yeah, I totally get what you’re saying. I actually managed to get in three games today (thank goodness for some downtime at work, just chilling in a parking lot). Swapped out the Fan Rotom for an Air Balloon, and then replaced all the Dunsparces and Dundunsparce with Dreepy and Drakloak.

The combo feels really rigid—maybe a skill issue on my end—but it always seems like Dreepy/Drakloak ends up active somehow, which forces me to dig for the Air Balloon since we’re only running special energy. I do like the mind game setup with Dreepy though—baiting the Dragapult ex expectation is kind of clever, even if in the end, it doesn’t really change the fact that if they’re setting up, they’re setting up regardless.

Ended up winning 1 out of 3, but still feel like there’s potential, though it dors make sense that you are running crushing Hammer, it appears that your variation needs that type of control support. It appears that Dunsparces leads with Undersea Tunnel consistency in order to clarify the difference of a mill deck and a mill/control deck.

Both viable and glad we found the differences for trainer preference.

Ben Wash avatar

Hey man! Been playing wug a while too and interested in your list!
Do you not run the Shaymin in preperation for Battle cage? How do you stop bench snipers?

phillipta avatar

Hey Ben Wash ! First off, thanks for the question – always nice bumping into another Wugtrio player 😄 On your two points, it's more fair to give an opinion since MEG (Mega Evolutions) as Phantasmal Flames is still not legal for another 2 weeks and it's kinda still up in the air for me as my job doesn't permit to me play Pokemon all day anymore, sad.

"Do you not run the Shaymin in preparation for Battle Cage?”

The reasoning for not running a Shaymin (Destined Rivals) is when looking at the current Limitless Top 15 meta (and ignoring Fezandipiti ex as an attacker since it’s mostly used for the draw Ability) only 5 out of 81 distinct Pokémon actually hit the Bench with damage → about 6%, thus bench sniping is definitely real, but not everywhere. It shows up on:

"How do you handle bench snipe?"

Instead of hard-preventing damage, I make their snipes awkward:

  • Bench construction:
    I intentionally keep a flexible, “all-basic” bench:

    • Dunsparce / Dudunsparce – Run Away Draw lets them cycle out before snipes become meaningful.

    • Wiglett / Wugtrio – if they’re spending turns sniping these, they’re usually not dealing with the active Wugtrio that's using Undersea Tunnel in their face, it's tecnically the same exact line as them attacking my active, which you're always prepared to lose anyhow.

  • Game plan:

    • Wugtrios are meant to be KO’d in a controlled way – I just want to keep Undersea Tunnel going every turn.

    • If they want to waste attacks picking off Wiglett and random Dunsparce, that’s often fine; I can refuel Basics easily and keep milling.

  • Versus spread ex attackers

The line I usually aim for is overbenching the heck out of my side with Wigletts and Dunsparces:

    1. Let them go down to 2 Prize cards left.

    2. Then Counter Catcher (Paradox Rift)  up a high retreat cost enemy or at least 1 retreat cost

    3. Drop Neutralization Zone (Shrouded Fable) .

    4. Iono (Paldea Evolved) them to 2 cards in hand.

By that point, if the game has gone “normally,” their deck is thin and they’ve already committed a lot of Energy and stadiums. True if they get that spread going on say their first turn and start spreading super fast, sometimes you just accept it – this is Wugtrio afterall, not a Worlds deck.

tl;dr

So summarizing my reasoning:

  • Bench sniping exists, but only a small slice of the current (Mega Evolutions) meta can actually do it.

  • Shaymin can absolutely help versus those few matchups, but

    • It can get dragged Active and force Switch.

    • It pushes the deck toward “stall/control,” when Wugtrio’s best plan is to keep milling aggressively.

If Battle Cage ends up warping the meta so people move from damage counter spread into damage spread, I’m totally open to slotting Shaymin. as I've hadn't had the time yet to pull the assets from the game to update my ChatGPT Project Files to draw from potential threats from it yet in order to anticipate bench damage attackers. From a glance, it seems to be more in favor of ex attackers that focus on the active with some gusting around.

Right now though, I’d rather:

  • Use Battle Cage to annoy Dragapult / counter-based stuff (which is effective against my low HP basics)

  • Rely on Run Away Draw + smart Counter Catcher / Iono turns to deal with the few bench damage snipers that actually exist.

Would love to see how you’re building around Battle Cage and Shaymin though – if you upload your list on Pokémon.io, I’m definitely down to checking it out.

Ben Wash avatar

Hey phillipta!

Thanks for the reply!

That all makes sense!

I have very similar list to you, however I drop and Iono (Paldean Fates)  for the Shaymin (Destined Rivals)  as I seem to be coming up a lot of bench snipers where I play 🤣

Battle Cage is definitely going to be tested by myself as a lot of decks also seem to have Munkidori (Twilight Masquerade) and I think it could be a good combat to that, also to use it as stadium bate ready for Neutralization Zone (Shrouded Fable)

I will let you know how I get on!

phillipta avatar

Hey there Ben Wash , just got Arceus rank since we last talked as Wugtrio has gotten really fun due to the higher power creep, milling them outright has been nice. Mega Bunny switching in and out with Dusknoir line has been annoying but recently found our milling to be very distruptive in their heavy combo deck.

Still haven't found a use for Shaymin yet as there are even fewer bench damage attackers the whole way up the ladder, damage counters and damage to the active still seem to be the meta, so perhaps yeah - it's a lot of bench damage at your locals then. My locals in San Diego appears to be more damage counter focused, no idea why - oh and people love running Gardevoir ex here. But trying to win against that deck is super hard anyhow, hopefully the dark players can scare them off, lol.

Ben Wash avatar

Hey phillipta

After some testing I run a very similar deck to yourself, however I only run 3 Nest Balls and have replaced the 4th with a Redeemable Ticket (Journey Together).
This has helped me hugely for when I have prized energy or wugtrio or wigletts. (one game I prized 3 energy which was a nightmare).
I have also been playing around with the Cleffas and instead now run 2 Budew (Prismatic Evolutions) and have found it works really well and helps set up, and forces the knock out as the opponents hate being item locked.

I am having a lot of fun with this deck!

phillipta avatar

Ben Wash Hey ya buddy! After yesterdays Limitless tournament of 100+ people can now proudly say I'm 2nd ranked as Wugtrio this season lol:
https://play.limitlesstcg.com/decks/wugtrio-svi?format=standard&rotation=2025&set=PFL&combine

Oddly though 2 of those wins came from having Golduck with Damp to counter the Mega Bunnies' Klefki from turning off the Damp ability, then you burn through their switches since they mostly rely on Dusknoir line for the switches.

Additionally, did start noticing the Budew (Prismatic Evolutions) however thought it was just straight up mean to do - but you know what Ben? It's time to swallow that pride and I too will try it out with you. Because you do make a good point that we have enough draw power as it is.

Ah would personally run Redeemable Ticket (Journey Together) however I personally am not good enough to prize check. Tried to take a piece of paper and learn the skill with other decks but it never really clicked for me despite how comfortable I was with the deck list. Though I commend you for being a better player than me if you can track that lol. Will let you know how it goes, still waiting for your Wugtrio deck list page :D

Oh and the reasoning behind the extra Nest Ball was due to 47% chance of getting donked with this deck even with how much basic search we have. Though I feel yeah I once had 4 Wugtrios prized and you know what? That's okay to concede lol. Though with 3 Reversals that about:

  • Chance of starting a game with 3 (or more) Reversal Energy prized:
    0.22% → about 1 game in 445.

  • Chance your v4.11 Wugtrio deck opens with only 1 Basic Pokémon (post-mulligan):
    47% of games.

phillipta avatar

Ben Wash

I am indeed liking that it's giving my turn 2 plays a little more consistency, as if I don't nail the Hilda Ignition Wugtrio, it's  nice fall back if I happen to go second.

Ben Wash avatar

Awesome to hear! Congrats on number 2 ranking!!!

I like your idea of one Budew and one Cleffa! I will try this too and see how I get on!

After being deceived by fake Bitcoin investors, many victims unknowingly fall for scam recovery hackers, losing even more money in the process. I was one of them. Just when I was ready to give up, I was referred to a genuine cyber expert who helped me recover the funds I lost in a fraudulent crypto investment. Their professionalism and results restored my faith in people and in second chances. I highly recommend swift recovery services to anyone seeking real help after a crypto scam.

Ben Wash Honestly using Neutralization Zone, Iono them down to low cards and attacking with Budew has felt evil.

Ben Wash avatar

phillipta I know! ;) Got to embrace it though as it makes it that little bit more consistent and gives the time we need to get the Wug engine going again

phillipta avatar

Ben Wash Hey ya been noticing my ELO drop from 1600+ to <1500 since adding Budew, think being too control like hurts the aggro nature of the deck.
