New Deck Builder (May 2026)

Hi Folks,

I just pushed out a brand new Pokémon deck builder to the site. This is based on the excellent feedback I have received for the deck builders we have on SorceryCard.io and OnePieceDB.io. 

When I overhauled PokemonCard in Dec 2025, the most negativity I received was centered around the deck builder. I patched it up on the few weeks after the overhaul but I think a proper overhaul was justified. I spent the last few months making a new deck builder template for all of my sites which started on SorceryCard, then expanded into OnePieceDB and now here on PokemonCard.

I hope you will find it more useful than the old one and I do apologize for releasing yet another variation of our deck builder. 

We have a brand new Table/Image mode which provide a much better look at the deck you are building, more condensed information and seperation of adding cards vs viewing your current deck. This table view has also been ported into our saved deck pages on the site to provide more rich information.

We have also made mobile improvements to the deck builder such as haptic feedback, toast improvements and more!

I think they are some issues with the new deck builder compared to the last time I used it (1 year ago). It is now quite difficult to search cards in the systeme. Before, if I would write ''discard'' with ''pokemon'' as a card type and ''fire'' as a sub-type, the engine would give me every fire pokemon card with discard in its ability or attacks. Now, nothing is showed.
Basically, no text of the cards seems to be searchable. Writing ''energy'' for trainer cards only give me card with energy in its name, nothing else.

It's making creating decks quite difficult, unless they are a way to search those information in another way with the new system.

Just an FYI the search system was updated in Dec 2025 and was not affected by the May 2026 update. The search system you describe is wanted by some and not others. I've gone through this many times since December and changing it one way causes users to want to change it back to a different search method so unfortunately there was no catch all solution.

Which is why I implemented the advanced search syntax. This works in both our card database and deckbuilder so I would recommend making use of this.  On the card database click the "?" icon to get a list of instructions but it works like so:

text:"discard"

text:"discard" supertype:"pokemon"

text:"discard" supertype:"pokemon" types:"fire"

I initially had it so that default searching on the input text would search both card name and text box and it upset a lot of people who felt like their searches were muddled with cards they didn't want so we needed a solution to appeal to everyone. 

The GLC filter in the search still pulls up much older cards that are definitely not legal in GLC.

Hello! Can you give me an example of some of them? I'm always trying to refine the GLC side of things.

Searching Aipom returned many older cards for example.

I was trying to use the filters to only show pokemon with zero retreat cost but when i set the min/max retreat cost to zero, it doesn't find anything.  Am i missing something?  is there a separate option specifically for showing pokemon with zero retreat cost?

One question: would it be possible to have an option to hide the card price ( at least in Images view)? Or have the box in the lower right corner of the card that displays the number of cards have a different color/font size than the price box?

I use the site only to build decks and perform some initial tests. But even if I used it to get a feel for the deck price it would unfortunately not help me much since I live in Europe and the TCGplayer prices are usually wildly out of step with what I can find here.

Also one small note regarding GLC: it seems that Ultra Beasts (example: Guzzlord sm12-136) are not treated as format-legal so the decks which include them can not be labeled as GLC. Which is not correct.

 Thanks for the feedback! I will look into it all. I did push out an update that does this for the moment:

1. In account settings, you can disable deck prices. This hides the prices on the deck pages and the deckbuilder.
2. You can swap it from TCGplayer being the primary source of prices to Cardmarket.
