The Metal type was first introduced in generation two, given its age in the franchise you would expect there to be a plethora of cards to choose from when constructing a Metal GLC deck. You would be disappointed!

Unlike types such as Water or Lightning that have interchangeable pieces, Metal does not enjoy the same luxury. We will have to make do with what we have!

This list plays 7 tool cards mainly focusing on reducing damage and mobility. If there is one thing Metal has going for it, it's the many tool cards that reduce damage for Metal Pokémon specifically. Cards such as Metal Frying Pan (Forbidden Light), Metal Core Barrier (Unbroken Bonds), and Metal Goggles (Team Up) allow your Pokémon to potentially survive multiple turns when paired with Full Metal Lab (Temporal Forces). You can move around the board freely with Float Stone (Plasma Freeze) and Escape Board (Ultra Prism), this is particularly helpful with Jirachi (Team Up)'s ability that lets you look at the top five cards of the deck and put a Trainer card in your hand making it an excellent pivot Pokémon.

When it comes to attackers, we don't have many but the idea here is that we can use the same attackers to take multiple prizes thanks to the tools and stadiums mentioned above. Copperajah (Darkness Ablaze) already boasts 190 health and is capable of doing up to 240 damage if you have damage on your bench. Zamazenta (Crown Zenith) is a great revenge attacker that has a built-in damage reduction with its Metal Shield ability. Dialga (Celebrations) has an unlimited damage cap with Metal Blast and Orthworm (Paldea Evolved) can become an absolute unit with its Nutritional Iron ability and the aforementioned buff cards. Although Orthworm does not have much damage output, Galarian Perrserker (Sword & Shield) can boost the damage of all your Metal Pokémon by 20 damage with its Steely Spirit ability!

Perhaps the most important addition to this list is Metang (Temporal Forces). Metal Maker allows you to look at the top four cards of your deck and attach any basic Metal energy you find there to your Pokemon in any way you like. This paired with Wishful Baton (Burning Shadows), Metal Saucer (Sword & Shield), Magnezone (Ultra Prism), and Raihan (Evolving Skies) allows you to keep the energy flowing and keep your attackers online.

This deck is extremely light on Supporters but does have basic staples like Guzma (Burning Shadows), Cynthia (Ultra Prism), and Arven (Scarlet & Violet)

That is the deck! I hope you enjoy it and it gets you some wins!

Thanks,

Charmatter
