Dragon types are easily one of the most challenging yet rewarding decks to play in the Gym Leader Challenge format. Dragon types are easily one of the most challenging yet rewarding decks to play in the Gym Leader Challenge format. Welcome to my series on Dragon type pokemon I hope you're as excited as I am to explore these magical beasts and possibly tame one of these archetypes that best fits your playstyle. This series will consist of 3 varying decks all focused on Dragon type pokemon each with their own talents, skills, and combos. The first deck I'd like to explore I call the Brute Force Dragon Deck (Brutes for short). The Brutes consist of only Dragon type pokemon that utilize fighting type energy. This synergizes perfectly with the stadium card Martial Arts Dojo, allowing us to do an extra 10 damage while we have a fighting energy attached. Even more damage can be achieved as that extra 10 damage increases to an extra 40 damage if we have more prize cards than our opponent! As you can see the Brutes really need to take a lead and take it fast so that they can overwhelm their opponent and force their enemy to completely submit. Comebacks are not impossible but I will cover our ace comeback card later. The first combo that'll get a quick KO is to use Guzma and Hala to search for Double Dragon Energy and Team Magma's Secret Base. These cards in combination with Drampa will activate Berserk's effect allowing drampa to deal 160 damage immediately. Team Magma's Secret Base also synergizes well with Raging Blades zygarde enabling us to set up Drampa and a backup attacker Turn 1! Kommo-o with U-turn board is an absolute beast allowing you to consistently swing for 180 each turn! Turtonator provides consistency in as a basic in the opening hand allowing you to Shell Trap to stall for time as you get your Brutes set up. Once Gabite has fulfilled enough Dragon Call's to set up the board then it can finally evolve itself into *NEW* Garchomp. The new garchomp from BRS deals 160 for a WF Energy the same as Drampa! And it goes invincible when evolved into using its Slip Sound ability. The new Garchomp is forsure an ace pokemon in this deck and will be a trump card to secure the last two prizes or used to stall for a turn since nothing can damage it. Boost shake is in this deck to help get Kommo-o/Gabit/or Dragonite out faster than normal plus who doesn't want to feed their baby dragon a protein shake??
