Deck Primer

Strategy:
 Use Torterra to Tank hits and do big damage.

A Luxurious Cape + Torterra requires 290 damage to knock it out.

Use Cheryl or Whimsicott to heal a damaged Torterra straight away.

A knocked out Torterra can be easily recovered with Lana's aid and/or revitaliser. Forest of vitality  will allow it to set it back up in one turn.

The Set Up:

Try to set up Turtwig and Treecko first, as Grovyle and Grotle allow you to search for the grass Pokemon you need

Take your time sending out Torterra. A Torterra too early could lead to unfavourable situations. You should keep Grotle in play for around 2-3 turns before evolving it.

Attack with itchy pollen or Technical Machine Evolution on turn one, depending on the situation.  Right after that, set up Roselia since Roserade is very powerful in tight situations. Right after that, set up an Oddish. Gloom can not just keep tabs on your opponent's hand but it can also bench useless Pokemon that are not needed.

The Gameplay:

You are not trying to rush. Allow your opponent to take prize cards before you start taking prizes. This is because we want to ensure a full board state (Torterra does not do damage unless we have enough evolution Pokemon in play)

The order you set up your Pokemon should be: Turtwig > Treecko > Roselia > Oddish > Deerling > Cottonee

This deck sets up Pokemon incredibly fast and consistently (thanks to the Grotle and Grovyle engines). Make sure you check which Pokemon are prized before going with the game.

Sceptile is incredibly helpful not just being able to heal but also allowing you to accelerate 2 energies per turn, just enough for Torterra. Please note that you only evolve the Grovyle when you need it (after you have sent out Torterra)

Finally, we have the MVP tech card: Vileplume. We use Vileplume not just for Gloom's ability, but to make it near impossible to knock out the Torterra. With Vileplume in play, the opponent cannot play Field Blower to remove your Luxurious Cape, nor can they play recovery cards like Night Stretcher, instantly crippling your opponent. 

Note: Do not use Roserade too early if possible. Roserade is sometimes necessary for the 1 turn recovery of Torterra. Roserade is also necessary to find Gladion in case a piece of the line is missing. However, it might be necessary for the turn 2 Lillie's Determination if you have no other Pokemon in play. Do not hesitate in such situations.

A bit about the deck:

This deck was inspired by Ursaluna Control. It uses the same premise of having Pokemon engines to set up a big stage 2 that you can cycle and tank hits with. I really enjoyed playing Ursaluna Control since you do not need to have a tight prize race with your opponent. Hope you liked this deck and can try it out!
