Milotic is a high-risk, high-reward option. Milotic is used instead of Frosmoth because accelerating to the active spot is incredibly powerful. No pivot is required, which makes it easier to attack earlier while also saving deck space. Aside from the prize penalty, Milotic can only be used realistically once a game, which means you really have to make it count!

 

This deck likes to go second in order to play Hisuian Basculin. From there, you will have many options. You can set up Drizzile, Milotic and Wailmer, Milotic and Magikarp, or get Froslass ready. Drizzile can search out Irida, which is especially helpful for building a board and completing the combo of Milotic, Battle Compressor, and one additional evolution. If any of the pieces are prized for energy acceleration, it is pretty easy to search out the town map and take a quick KO with Froslass. Basculeigon and Inteleon are also great energy-efficient attackers.

 

One of my favorite things about this deck is how low-maintenance it is. There are no draw Pokémon, yet you can consistently outpace your opponent in getting to the bottom of the deck. The main cards responsible for this are Battle Compressor, Trekking Shoes and Pyukumuku. Battle Compressor is in the deck to put energy in the discard, but it can also get rid of cards you no longer need like Gloria. Pyukumuku is just a draw 1 card, but what makes it so good is that it turns every extra ball card into a draw 1 card as well. Opening with Basculin is pretty common, so having extraneous ball cards that can't fetch anything else is pretty common.

 

Lastly, there are some unique benefits to using Milotic. Zinnia's Resolve becomes a better card, and so does Roxanne. One issue with Roxanne is that by the three prize turn, your opponent might be able to have set up a draw Pokémon. Milotic make the condition occur one turn earlier, which means you catch your opponent off guard. It is not uncommon to play Roxanne with either Gyarados or Wailord in the active spot.

 

Extra Info: The blizzard town stadium doesn't do too much, but can be a nice play for Basculin or Inteleon, especially when playing Roxanne.
