Search function barely works anymore, probably just early bugs?

OP

I've really enjoyed building decks with this site, but now with the new system, it's clunky and unresponsive- I update the filters, and it refuses to update the cards it's showing even after I hit enter. Previous filters that helped specify things seem to have been actively removed (such as searching by HP highest-lowest), and the ability to search the word 'water' and have it include cards that mention the water symbol instead of saying water, means you can no longer search for all cards that mention water-type in their wording.

I really love this website, and I'm not saying this out of hatred or to be rude, I promise I'm just genuinely confused. You don't offer a light mode anymore (weird to not offer both, but I assume there's a good reason), but the search function feels like it's been crippled, it bugs out and refuses to update and won't search the things I ask it to repeatedly.

I assume it's just early bugs, and I'll stick around and hope it gets better :) but I did want to call it to attention

It's funny, the first point you mention is basically searching cards by text. Which I had implemented natively until yesterday. So if you searched "water" it would search by card name and all text (they posted about it on our discord). Then a user gave out about that and I switched it :P

So I'm currently struggling to keep everyone happy it seems. We do however have new advanced search syntax (which also works on the deck builder). If you go to the card database and hit the ? in the text input then it should show a modal with some advanced search syntax guidelines. It's very much trying to replicate Scryfall searching and you can mix them together.

I'll check the search bit more as I haven't found it actively not updating but I'll look into that today 🙏 I'm also going to try have more filters on the deck builder as there is more inconsistencies between the builder and the card database.

I'm just juggling now between changing how search works to help some users which then upsets other users 😅

I hear people about the light mode but it probably won't come back. It was a colossal pain in the neck to maintain and slowed down the rollout of new features every single time.

Oh and if you come across a filter or particular search combination that seems to break for you then please copy and paste the entire URL here. It would help me immensely! Thanks!

Ok our Card Database has been updated, I've added some new filters:

- attack energy cost range
- attack cost type

I also fixed "Type" filter which wasn't part of our cache so wasn't working.

I then updated our Deckbuilder to add a new range of filters there to be more on par with our Card Database

You're a legend mate, it's working better already :) thank you for your help!

I would greatly appreciate if we got this feature back as a toggleable switch. Attempting to build a damage counter themed deck has proven to be extremely difficult as of late, as typing in "damage counter" will not bring up any cards at all, so I have had to resort to other websites to find the cards I would like to use. Not to be dramatic, but it's such a shame, and a major disappointment as the biggest draw (for me) about this place was the fact that I could just type something like 'damage counter' and have every Pokemon, trainer, and stadium that were ever related to damage counters show up, as opposed to now, where typing 'damage counter' gives me nothing

Now the best option for this is the official Pokemon website with their god awful UI

My proposed solution is having a toggleable filter that allows you to choose whether you want purely attack names, or attack names + descriptions/trainer names or trainer descriptions. Would that be difficult to add? The functionality was already there, I would assume it'd be a matter of implimenting an 'on/off' switch if you will

Sure I can definitely look into making it a toggleable switch but right now you can still search for that using;

keyword:counter

URL: https://pokemoncard.io/card-database?n=keyword%3Acounter&sort=name&sortdirection=asc
