As good as Gouging Fire it is, I don't think it's the greatest strategy to meld together every single Trainer card that says "fire" in it. Key of these being Kiawe and Mela. Kiawe is too slow for what is a fast deck archetype, and in my opinion Riahan is overall better than Mela.
I'll spare you a giant monologue about the inclusion of Pokemon Ranger, since I'm not on a personal mission to mark every deck that uses it with an orbital strike cannon. Bottom line, ADP generally isn't worth running a specific counter card anymore, since 280 damage is pretty much the magic number in Expanded, and most decks don't have a problem OHKO'ing it and gaining the momentum needed to win the game.
This deck seems good enough otherwise!
CountyGibbon798 Thanks for the comment! I agree Kiawe is unnecesary anda Raihan is over Mela, I'll take a look on that.
Otherwise, Pokemon Ranger I think is necesary on every expanded deck, you're right on ADP is not very in the meta right now, but itemlock and other effects are so bothering.
Thanks for the advice! :)
CountyGibbon798 bc Joacs @ didn't work.
Gibbon might have spared you the monologue abt the inclusion of ranger, but I won't lmao. Read all about it here: META ADP (Arceus & Dialga & Palkia) - PokemonCard I am here with you to recover from PTSD.
Also ranger only cancels "effects of attacks". Item lock strikers don't exist in the expanded meta, everyone uses Vileplume, so there is basically absolutely no reason to run ranger.
Gibbon is completely right abt you including everything that says "fire" in it. Your method of creating decks is more reminicent of other TCGs where synergy is often granted through class synergy, but there is little to nothing in Pokemon. Speed and consistency is more important. Especially in a deck like this. Gouging fire is supposed to be one of the fastest if not THE fastest in expanded, whipping out crazy damage first turn. This is made possible by doing everything in your capability to get the welder first turn since that MUST be your supporter in order to strike fast. The concept is overall pretty good, it's just crazy inconsistent. Take a look at how I went about optimizing Gouging fire in expanded: META Gouging Fire - PokemonCard
Hope this is helpful.
Battle Compressor Thanks for the @
Anyways, while Welder is 10000x better than anything else accleration related in Expanded for Fire, Blacksmith honestly isn't that bad of a choice, since a compressor engine could discard 2 energy and a Blacksmit, and then you VS Seeker it for your 2 energy. The issue is that it doesn't draw cards, which is a huge downside.
